Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I still don’t feel confident about the game Saturday. We know the OL played terribly but there’s just something else off about the offense right now. I heard a radio caller state that we’re not running as many RPOs with Nico like we did with Milton and Hooker. I don’t know if that’s true or not. Maybe he needs more snaps before we do so.

At least it’s in Neyland and we’ll need the crowd to affect their offense.

I dont understand, how would be not be prepared at this point? I fully understand comparing a RS Frosh to a SS and HH are apples and potatoes.

My question is more on coaching? Like wth guys, THIS offense is the best we've got?

I just dont get it. Huepel is supposed to be the quarterback whisperer.

God our OL got beat so bad and so quickly off the snap I wouldn’t be mad at playing some true freshmen next week. And bring Dayne back at RT at least he gets some push on run plays
I think the OL did better against OU than against arkansas for the most part. If heard can’t go, give Larry Johnson a chance. Same with Davis over Campbell. Keep the TEs in until the run game is established and we have gashed the gators with TE release passes , slants, drag routs, etc.

Ok VN…..

I’m in Fort Myers. Do I leave tomorrow, or wait till Tuesday morning to beat Hurricane Milton?
Be careful, Milton will be overthrowing you on your out route. If Milton is on target, the velocity he throws at you will knock you down at the very least.

Too soon? 😁

Be safe regardless. If you’re there alone try kite boarding once the wind picks up. If you’re there with family, then leave now. 😎

Listening to the podcast this morning they believe they are being timid because they know if Nico gets hurt the season is over. I think it comes down to the atrocious offensive line play…in particular the tackles.

Sad we’re in this state on the offensive line after 4 years but Ellarbee’s first two classes consisted of nothing but warm bodies. It sure would be nice to have a Darnell Wright type player to anchor this offensive line.

RB’s also have to do a better job in pass protection.

On Saturday we need to get that first first down then all gas no brakes. Wear out that 450lb nose tackle.

I'm gonna need a definition for 'odd front'
Three down linemen playing 2 gap technique. Often they will switch to a bear front (walk up the linebackers and secondary goes man) as we get in to the red zone or they think we are going with inside zone. When we go fast and the other team can't change personnel this is used.

I’m just speculating here but I assume it’s Nico’s field awareness. Maybe he’s not reading the defenses well or can’t do so fast enough yet. So we’re just running a more simplified version of the offense to protect Nico and the possession. It didn’t matter against lesser competition but SEC play has exposed it.

They’re awful in pass pro

We’re seeing the prime example why Jabari Small played more than Sampson last year

There really is no excuse for the OL, in its current state. Every defection, or loss on the trail hurts. I mean. He whiffed on the kid who plays for a ****** Michigan State team! Who else? There are so many losses, its hard to name.

Anyway, enough negativity. You've got who you've got. Just win.

True. They need to get back to what got them here. Let Nico make plays.

Oh great.
To beat teams running an odd front who are in tight we have to get to the perimeter. When they switch to okie then we can run inside zone, if they go bear we beat them the passing game.

Let's just go ahead and get rid of orange altogether. Seems like we're wearing orange in every loss, surely getting rid of it would cause us to never lose again.
This is a ban worthy stance.

I know you are joking, but my Memphis roots wants me to take a couple of organs from you to sell in order to raise NIL funds for our Vols. 😈 you can survive with giving up a kidney, half a liver, an eye, even “donate” some skin. All useful to others in need…who knows, maybe your Sally will replace the parts with new cyborg parts to begin your transition. 😳

It would give a whole new meaning when you say “I will give my all for Tennessee today.” 😎

I am of course joking…but mainly because I am in Texas. 😁
