From ESPN’s top 50 impact newcomers article:

17. CB Jermod McCoy

Transfer: Oregon State to Tennessee

McCoy started five games as a true freshman for Oregon State before making his move to the SEC. The 6-foot, 193-pound corner is still young and growing but is off to a terrific start for the Vols, allowing just nine catches for 107 yards in pass coverage, according to TruMedia, with four pass breakups plus an interception in their road win at Oklahoma.

Wayyy too low

From247:

It’s the third season-ending injury the seventh-year senior has suffered and his second with the Vols, a cruel and unfortunate situation for a player who has become beloved in the program since transferring in from BYU in 2023.

Pili was making a tackle on a pass play in the first quarter on Saturday night when he went down grabbing at his right knee. It looked like the emotion kicked in immediately for a player who suffered a season-ending knee injury three games into the 2021 season at BYU. Pili went to the locker room not long after and watched the second half on crutches with a large brace on his right leg.

After suffering a triceps injury in the 2023 opener and missing the rest of the season for Tennessee, the 26-year-old from Las Vegas, who began his career at BYU in 2016, got an NCAA waiver to extend his eligibility to this season and had 29 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries in five games and a handful of plays before the injury.

“I’m not sure there’s a better representative of what a Volunteer is than Keenan Pili,” Heupel said after Saturday’s win. “You talk about a selfless guy that cares about the people around him way more than he cares about himself, that’s an elite competitor, great leader, tough as nails, athletic, explosive – everything that you want. Just … he’s a dude, man. Special dude.”

Especially considering where we were. I don't see how any corner could have a bigger impact if for no other reason than for how bad our corner problem was but when you combine that with the level of play he's brought, it's beyond huge. Like going from last to first.

“Obviously, having a brother down like that — a great leader on our team who plays a great role on our team — having him go down, next-man-up mentality, as Coach Inge always says, and we just have to go out there and play for him,” Carter said after Saturday’s game. “I said that I wanted to go out there and, as a unit and as a defense, we had to go out there and play for Keenan Pili. That’s our brother and we’ve got to go fight.

Have Pearce spy Milroe and have a safety help shadow and double cover Williams and we should be alright
Considering it's Bama, and their offense. We know they're going to score early and often. Can D make enough plays?

Less concerned with that than I am our absolutely stagnant offense. Move Heard to Guard and DD to LT.
