Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I wish I got to see him and the other past greats play. But my earliest college football memories are from the 1999 season when Michael Vick led Virginia-Tech to the national championship game against Florida State.
You have missed a lot. Sorry most of your time has been suckage. At least you will live through the new good ole days.

I’ll try to give you easily streamable/rentable options. A lot of great indie horror is hard to find. Possession may not be streaming anymore sadly..

Classic: Rosemary’s Baby, The Thing (any John Carpenter), The Shining, Sixth Sense, Halloween, Evil Dead, Possession, Suspiria, could go on forever…

Folk: Wicker Man, The VVitch, A Field in England, Saint Maud, Blair Witch Project, any Ari Aster/Robert Eggers

Camp/Slasher: Ma, V/H/S, Dead Ringers (loads of cronenberg), Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer (challenging but rewarding watch, great performance), Terrifier, Bone Tomahawk

Cautionary Tale: Get Out, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, The Menu, Talk To Me, The Night House, Goodnight Mommy, Barbarian, Possessor, Watcher

Could list a lot of great foreign especially Korean and Japanese stuff but I find subtitles difficult when viewing on an outdoor screen.

I’ve got a crazy long list on Letterboxd lol

Great list! A few I'd add

Classic: Misery
Folk: Oddity
Camp/Slasher: Tucker & Dale vs. EVIL (it is a comedy, but lots of gore too), When Evil Lurks (foreign film too, but MAN this one had some craziness)
Cautionary Tale: The Descent (not 100% it'd fit this category, but of the ones you listed it fits here best), Late Night with the Devil

Sci-Fi driven: Fire in the Sky, Event Horizon, OG Alien

OK, fellow morans, I need movie suggestions. Since the Vols are off this week, we are watching a scary/horror movie on the big screen outside Saturday night. Ladies aren't looking for gory, dark but the men don't want animated Disney. Need a compromise. Shoot me suggestions, please.

So here's a few that I'd recommend.

1. Dark
2. Not gory (or at least not real gory for horror genre)

(require rental currently) Blink Twice (more suspense than horror, but well done, well acted, some good twists and overall just a good film)
(Shudder or AMC+ otherwise rental) Oddity (builds a tension throughout that is difficult to do, simple and eerie)
(Max or rental) Misery (classic, the way this film made me so uncomfortable and the suspense they were able to build, also two masterful performances)
(peacock or rental) Get Out (if you've not already seen it, I'm jealous a great one)
(rental) The Descent (oh man...this film was something else)

That day we called our insurance company because my wife got into my parked truck and backed it into my parked Jeep. Ah, good times!

(She asked me to edit and make it clear that it was an accident. She wants it clear that she is not a psycho. Just a woman driver.)
My Daddy used to fuss to no end about what a terrible driver my Momma was. She said once, "I've never been in an accident." To which my Daddy said, "Yeah but you sure have caused a whole he!! of a lot of them."

Yeah I’ll probably have to only grade the 1on1 assignments.

I agree with the order
Grading OL is always tough. The coaches can do it so much better because they know what the play call was and what each player's assignment was.

As much as Heard has disappointed, I don't think that spectacular whif in the arky game was on him. It looked like the TE (who was even lined up in the backfield!) was supposed to take the outside, so Heard jumped inside at the snap to sandwich the DE between them in a double team block. The TE inexplicably jumped inside too and the DE just walked around both of them. It made Heard look like he completely whiffed (which he has done plenty of times), but it really wasn't his fault on that one.

Also...since I'm now stuck in this mindset and I've been doing Horror films like crazy this month. A few I'd recommend based on where they are streaming.

Netflix: His House, The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Creep, Jaws, Psycho
Hulu: Late Night with the Devil, The Menu, Alien (OG), The Fly
Max: Caddo Lake, IT (remake), Scream (OG), Trick 'R Treat, The Shining, A Nightmare on Elm Street (OG), Misery, Gremlins, Paranormal Activity
Peacock: Get Out, It Follows, Let the Right One In, The Thing (OG), Shaun of the Dead, The Blair Witch Project, Tucker & Dale vs. EVIL, Tremors
Paramount+: Smile, Talk to Me, A Quiet Place, Sleepy Hollow, Rosemary's Baby, Event Horizon, The Faculty
Prime: The Thing (OG), The Witch, The Silence of the Lambs, Army of Darkness, Idle Hands, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Crimson Peak, Pandorum, Bubba Ho-Tep

This is true.

Luckily I’ll probably end up hand picking the easiest plays to identify individual assignments. There’s very few.
