Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Memba when Sampson was a wee lad so excited to be playing in Baton Rouge, he nearly got Hooker killed? What a long way he's come. We always knew he had the speed but that power he's added has been impressive.
I remember when he first committed and I said, “meh” because he wasn’t the usual back we got (Kamara, Hurd, Gray, Evans, etc)

I said the same thing about Wright, and now look at both of them….probably the two best RBs to come here.

Wright, Kelly, and Sampson all played well above their rankings

Also...since I'm now stuck in this mindset and I've been doing Horror films like crazy this month. A few I'd recommend based on where they are streaming.

Netflix: His House, The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Creep, Jaws, Psycho
Hulu: Late Night with the Devil, The Menu, Alien (OG), The Fly
Max: Caddo Lake, IT (remake), Scream (OG), Trick 'R Treat, The Shining, A Nightmare on Elm Street (OG), Misery, Gremlins, Paranormal Activity
Peacock: Get Out, It Follows, Let the Right One In, The Thing (OG), Shaun of the Dead, The Blair Witch Project, Tucker & Dale vs. EVIL, Tremors
Paramount+: Smile, Talk to Me, A Quiet Place, Sleepy Hollow, Rosemary's Baby, Event Horizon, The Faculty
Prime: The Thing (OG), The Witch, The Silence of the Lambs, Army of Darkness, Idle Hands, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Crimson Peak, Pandorum, Bubba Ho-Tep
Love it! Another one to add that people rarely talk about is “Lake Mungo”

I’d say, if looking for something from this year, go with Oddity instead.

My favorite horror of the year.

Oddity was so good. I did some work with one of the co production companies on that— Nowhere. Shudder had done a great job this past year with helping funding/distributing solid indie horror films. Similar to Mubi this year with their purchases at Cannes

Yeah wasn't sure you and Ace both gave likes around the same time oddly enough 😆
Before his hiring I thought Heupel would be a good choice at UT for his offense. We had been so boring for so many years. I was ready to score some points and make Vol football fun again. He has been so much more.

It was an alright movie, not bad, with some really good parts; but, yeah, that book is GOATed, especially in vampire fiction. As I said, it's more psychological than horror, although the horror of what is happening is very intense.
Love the book, I Am Legend, ending is one of my tops!

Have you read, Fevre Dream by George R. R. Martin? Its from 1982 before he wrote Game of Thrones. Set on the Mississippi. Its like Twain meets Dracula.

It is pretty astonishing. Nobody would have guessed that he would turn himself into a first round pick.

Not my top 5, but a damn good top 5!

1. Travis Henry, only 3k rusher in program history, 5.5 ypc, part of the 2 headed monster that helped us win a natty
2. James "Little Man" Stewart, considering he had to split carries with Aaron Hayden & Charlie Gardner his whole career impressive that he's 3rd all time in yards and 1st all time in TDs at 35
3. Jamal Lewis, good chance he's a finalist for Heisman in 98 if he didn't get hurt.
4. Charlie Garner, there's a reason why he demanded carries despite Stewart and Hayden being in the same back field
5. Dylan Sampson, 2nd in all time rushing TDs with 30 and he's only played in 29 games a career 6 ypc guy and this is the first season he's gotten more than 110 carries...dude is a stud if he returned for a 4th season he'd own every career record and it wouldn't be close

Johnnie Jones, Webb & Cobb and a few others were just before my time.

Little Man Stewart was one of the most underrated RBs in both college and the NFL.

There were a lot of people on here who called him a great hire for Mizzou as their OC and later at UCF as head coach. He flew completely under the radar for me. I was barely aware of him as a coordinator or coach until his name popped up during our post-Pruitt search.
