Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Gonna disagree with you old heads. Jamal clearly had more talent. What would he do if not for his injuries?

I mean I get it, I've watched Webb's games and he was great, but Jamal was a complete freak of nature. Not a lot of people can sat they were more talented than him.
I saw both of them play a lot of football games. Lewis was a really good football player from Tucker Georgia. I lived in Tucker for years and saw him -lay in high school. He was the best RB in Georgia and we were able to get him to Tennessee where he was an all star. With that said, I saw Webb and , before his injury, he was the best running back I have ever seen in person. I did not see O J play in person. Webb may have become as good as Simpson ,but he never regained his former self after the injury. I strongly believe Webb is the best I have ever seen.

Me too, unreal talent

They're saying the injury to Godwin was a hip drop tackle. Didn't look like it at all to me. Am I missing something? Yes he landed on his leg, but he laid out to tackle him, he didn't swivel into his legs and drop his weight on the legs. Are they just trying to make a statement? Is my definition of hip drop not accurate?

I mean Jamal ended up being one of the best RB's that have ever played and would be first ballot if he didn't get hurt so much. Dude had a 2,000 yard season in the NFL, which takes unbelievable talent. His size and speed was ridiculous.

But either way, both crazy good. Probably splitting hairs at this point.

Tennessee alums in the media hate Tennessee so much. I’ll never understand why.
If you're UT alum and you tell people you catch a lot of crap. Same as when you tell someone you're a VFL. Backwards redneck racist villains. "What was your major? Moonshine?" The general public sees UT and Tennessee in general as a bunch of ignorant, redneck, outlaws. In my case they are probably right.
My Daddy told me when I graduated from school, "Son, you're now one of the most powerful and dangerous things on the face of the earth, a redneck with an education." "We elect one president every four years. "

"I think it was Alabama because, listen, Alabama trumps Tennessee in a game of meaningful poker. Tennessee did not start the season inside the playoff bubble. Alabama did. Tennessee has looked good and bad, and everything else. For Tennessee, the game was absolutely critical. That goes without saying. I'll leave it to the playoff gurus, but Alabama has a better chance to get back with a loss than Tennessee. Tennessee has Georgia left, and really, that's about it."

YOU ALL DON'T HATE THE MEDIA ENOUGH

Dude! You're killing me! You're not supposed to remind me that I'm old as dirt, it's been a day. I might have forgotten.
😂

Anyway, back to running backs. I get where you're coming from. Lewis' size and speed were an elite combo. The things that sets Webb apart for me are: 1) despite being smaller than Lewis, he was just as tough to bring down; and 2) his start/stop & change of direction was insane. Their cutting was very similar, but Webb's the only back I've ever seen at TN that could make a 90 degree turn in either direction and be back at full speed in one stride.

Regardless of which RB you pick, the sad thing for all of us as fans, is that the two most talented RB's we've had in the modern era of football have both had their college careers ended by knee injuries. Absolutely a shame!

Says the guy who regularly complains that our schedule should be more difficult.
Correct, go check out the teams records combined Tennessee will or has played OOC this year. Wait I already have. 9-21 combined record.

We will always disagree on OOC scheduling.

Every team in College Football should play a tougher OOC schedule.
