Recruiting Football Talk VIII

If it was just a regular water main break not during a major natural disaster, yes.

But you have to figure the first week every person, including all the individual workers, engineers, planners, etc. were just trying to survive in their own lives...their own family and friends. And the area was cut off in every direction.

Then you had search and rescue efforts that were first and foremost. Priorities and all. We had water distribution centers within 3 days, that was the critical lifeline.

The entire set of resevoirs we are reliant on were wrecked and demolished. This was the worst natural disaster in the entire history of the area, as known to modern man. Entire substations and lines were completely washed away. It's really quite amazing what they've done in short order. Some engineers were saying November-January originally. They took a gamble and went for repairing a shortcut line and are now looking to treat directly from the resevoir to get to potable water quicker.

Far smarter people than myself have figured out things on the fly and with real-life complications. Not just a "war games" simulation. Everyone is very grateful for sure. 1-4 months without water sounded absolutely awful.

This entire region, from the surrounding nonprofits, communities, officials, businesses, and leaders have responded amazingly well for what it was. Could have been so much worse.
Yes. I think Greene Co. was just one many gritty Appalachian entities that did things like getting their severely damaged riverside water pumping station back up and running within about a week. God bless them all.

The same could be said for Webb. He tore up his knee as junior and didn't play his senior season. He was never the same after that injury.
In the second game of his REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE season. Basically all of his greatness was compressed into shared duty with Reggie Cobb his redshirt freshman season.

Unfortunately we will probably never see this kid in a Tennessee uniform
I wasn't going to rain on the parade, but yeah, he will likely go pro. However players are more likely to do a year or two in college these days if they are not a super high draft pick.

You're right, I forgot he redshirted. Man, what combo that Cobb-Webb duo was though.
Majors redshirted Chuck Webb and Carl Pickens in 1988. The year we started out 0-6. 1989 was the beginning of the run through the 1990s and early 2000s. Hindsight being 20-20. Should have played both of them as true freshmen.

Majors played Pickens. At the 0-6 mark, Pickens started playing both ways, DB and WR. He tightened up our secondary big time. He agreed to play defense because the team needed him. A team guy. Only played WR in years after. I seem to recall that he played WR in '88 before we needed him to go both ways, but not positive.

I'll have to look this up. I may be wrong.

My bro going next week. Jelly. Wanted to meet them there but couldn't pull it off.

Boo needs a Halloween weekend Pick 6.
Next week they need to dress Boo like an orange ghost and instead of running through the T they could hook him to the flying camera thingy and he could do a flyover through the T.
