Recruiting Football Talk VIII

My father and I were at that Music City Bowl game freezing our tails off up in the nose bleeds. We could’ve murdered Doofus that night. Little did we know we’d suffer a decade of misery and despair.

Fast forward to last week, we were both celebrating a victory over Bama. Blessed to have Coach Heup

What's so sad it was 13 men on DEFENSE, I understand 12 men blunder but 13. Good grief..
I died inside watching that. I wonder if Bray had started by then would we have won that game and some of the others. Maybe he would have hit a deep ball or two in that game and we would have never been put in that situation. Matt Simms wasn’t horrible but he was the epitome of game manager and when you got a deficient roster that’s just not gonna cut it. Simms probably would have been a great fit at Bama in those years. He had a longer pro career than any of those bama qbs from that time Wilson, McElroy, and McCarron so he probably would have been better than those guys with all that talent around him lol.

Why or how is a 1 loss OSU team in the top 3-4 teams? 7-0 Miami deserves to be above them. Even Texas.

I do not respect the BG10 schedule.

The computers got it right. Sally is good at one thing, and it aint makin' Trailer Vids

Both of those games were truly special ways of being screwed out of wins. Watching that again is absolutely infuriating.

LSU- total chaos, didn’t give us time to complete an orderly substitution… if this happened today, Heupel would just send someone jogging on as the clock hit zero.

UNC- total chaos again… there is a reason this led to an immediate rule change.

In both cases, incredible that the game was legitimately over, and then a post-game review that screws us. And it didn’t matter which team had too many guys on the field — we get screwed either way.

@NighthawkVol I was watching the '89 Ole Miss game this afternoon and the announcer said that Greg Amsler was a soccer player in high school and did not play football. The football team got him to come out as a kicker. Then they put in a fake and Amsler took the ball and ran for a touchdown. And the rest is history. One of the best fullbacks to play the college game. Have you ever heard this story?

I had not. And I vividly remember that I didn’t watch that game on TV. It wasn’t televised in Franklin. What channel was the broadcast on?

I listened to John Ward call that game and Chuck Webb broke the school rushing record. Thanks for sharing that story!

ACC schedule is a joke as well. Miami has one dominant performance against a team with a pulse (currently, not at the time). Otherwise, they've spent the last three weeks scraping by mid-level ACC opponents. A loss is a loss, but OSU has been dominant otherwise, and took Oregon down to the last play of the game. It's at the very least justifiable. BG10>ACC.

What are the expectations for UT baseball? Are we loaded enough to win another title or will it be a step back?
If they lose a game then Tony V needs to be fired on the tarmac. Is that expectation too much? Ok, don't do that I guess.

Lot of new faces but lots of talent coming in. Hard to tell right now.
