Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Please tell me he was kicked out and banned from future games.
Besides being dirtbags they really put players at risk doing that crap. If a player goes after a fan you can bet your last one that they're gonna get smoked. I think if a fan touches a player the player should be allowed to whip the fan's azz.

Obviously, he shouldn't play if he is out there looking like **** but I doubt that is the case tbh. We have been pretty banged up and the short time he was in, he made the most impressive TD catch of the year for us so far. There has to be a way to work him in somehow.
I submit an alternate TD catch for consideration...

I remember when Bru McCoy's character was assassinated early in his college career. Maybe some of it was warranted with the constant transferring and some of the issues he had at USC. But man, how proud his family must be to see the man he has become. If he made mistakes, he has matured and is around the right people now. Big congrats to him for being nominated for the Jason Witten award. What a remarkable story.

I thought I might've been over thinking it but I was thinking along the same lines. It is obvious that Squirrel is not much use as a receiver right now, if he was near 100% he would've made that catch on the shot play against Alabubba. He can't lift his arm over his head very well. But if the other team doesn't realize that or believe he's 80% he is very useful as a decoy. I think the cat is totally out of the bag now and if he's not somewhat healthy he should not play.

The other thing is if he streaks on a slant across Nico's face even at 80% you ignore him and Nico hits him on the numbers he's housing it. Now some other WR that doesn't know their route tree on the field running a go instead of that slant and Nico is throwing into a pick 6 potentially.

Lots more to being a great WR in this offense than being fast and catching the ball, a lot of "in this situation you run this route" and if Mike or any other young WR doesn't KNOW when to run what they're for sure a turnover liability as mentioned before.

The announcer reported that there were now 3 kickoffs returned by Tennessee for 100 yards. Then listed them. I was at each one of those games and saw each one.

I will be at Neyland this Saturday to watch the kentucky game.
Could someone tell our return players that a hundred yard return for a touchdown is expected? I appreciate your effort on my behalf. 🤠

15-1 🤠

Crush those kentucky wildcats! 😎

11-1 TN
10-2 UGA.

I think both get in. If the conference decides this do we get a favorable whistle in Athens?

In that situation you're assuming a 10-2 Texas and a 10-2 A&M then?

We're not in divisions so 2 best face in Atlanta... also Ole Miss sitting at 6-2 right now and their last big test of the season is Georgia coming to Oxford the weekend before we play the dawgs...

I'd assume SEC wants to let some of this headache sort itself out... but a "perfect" situation for them is Texas, Vols, Georgia, and A&M are all sitting at 1 loss going into their head to heads before the Championship game.

That's the last 4 major games left in conference play...

Wait a minute. Your telling me that a 10-2 Tennessee with only one loss is out and a 10-2 Georgia with losses to the Bammers and us is in.
As an aside, I still haven't figured out how we end up 10-2 if we only lose one game. I've been told it is possible. Right now I'm taking their word for it but I am looking for a model that fits. I have considered the scenario of as L approaches 2 (a close win) in our remaining games might cause our loss total to jump to two, but it is really more of a discrete as opposed to continuous situation. It may involve imaginary numbers. If anyone come up with anything let me know.

I was assuming Texas gets the bye.

I wasn't really considering who they played, but if I keep going I still think a 13-1 Texas, 11-2 Tennessee and 10-2 Georgia get in.

I get the narrative we need Al to win because it’s our best win to date but I don’t care, I want them to lose to LSU in a close game!

I want bama to begin their fall to mediocrity! I want their recruiting to falter and see the pre-Saban tide!

I’ll take my chances at 10-2 and we could still be 11-1! JMO
We have beaten AI? If so has anyone contacted Elon Musk?

I think if you get to Atlanta and both teams in that game only have 1 loss, you get both into the 12 team. Cause you'll have a SEC Champ with 1 loss, and the next best SEC team with just 2 losses (1 being in title game).

Now in your scenario, only 1 team is getting to Atlanta with 1 loss and then losing in the title game...leaving a total of at least 3 SEC teams with 2 losses. Obviously the Champion gets in and has a bye, but I don't know that a 10-2 Georgia team gets in over a 10-2 A&M team...when A&M will have it's losses to Notre Dame (who if they don't loss again will be the highest ranked at large) and to Texas (a top 4 seeded SEC Champ).

This is on the money, and it is why you don't see receivers come here and step right in.

To me and 11-1 ND needs to get left out. That schedule is slaw and that loss is really bad

I put UGA in because they have 2 good losses and the best win of the bunch.

Agree. Ron Artest got a bad rap. I also think the fans should be able to whip a player's azz (lol) if they touch a fan i.e. Bo Scarbrough and Jermaine Burton. Packers got it right when that fan stiff armed Joe Mixon and they did not eject him.

They won't though. Especially with a win over a top SEC team. Navy and Army both being ranked also helps them a ton (assuming they handle Army as well as they did Navy).

Also...I think their schedule looks better than Indiana as a 11-1 at large (assuming they lose to Ohio State) or even Penn State at 11-1 (also assuming they lose to Ohio State).

While we're on the topic of Mookie....is he a VFL? I sometimes refer to him as "Vol Legend Mookie Betts" kinda tongue in cheek. Wondered what others thought. Easy player to associate with UT.
