Tyler Bray threw for more yards than anyone who's ever worn a Tennessee uniform.

Turns out the Vols needed almost every single one to escape with a 55-48 victory over Troy on Homecoming in Neyland Stadium.

Bray set the record -- eclipsing Peyton Manning's career-high mark of 523 yards -- with a 24-yard completion to Justin Hunter on third down, one play before Marlin Lane’s 9-yard touchdown run gave the Vols the lead for good with 1:25 remaining.

Bray finished with 530 yards on 29-of-47 passing with five touchdowns. He did not throw an interception.

Good morning Vols!

This game should not have been close. We left 27 points on sideline (3 dropped TD's and 3 missed FG's). I said 27 because if you count the second missed field goal as dropped points then you are saying Kitslemen should not have held on to his TD. If that's your argument, we left 23 points on the sideline. That being said, our only consistent deep threat has been Thornton and we did not target him once downfield. Someone else will need to start making plays deep or opposing defenses will not change their gameplan. There have been consistent shots down the field in all of the last 3 games and we are not capitalizing. Message to all WR's out there that can fly and have good hands,,,,You would be a first rounder if you transfer here. Of course, the better path is developing our young guys (Matthews specifically).

Our defense is so clutch. I was miffed with Kentucky's drive at the end of the first half and the one right after Sampson scored his first TD, but those drives for Kentucky were credit to untimely penalties. Oh well. When we need them, this defense has been there every single game.

Nico! By far his best game for me. He should have had 130 more yards and 3 touchdowns easy. Simply need to catch the ball. Had that happened, he would have had the best stat line for a Tennessee QB against an SEC foe ever (I think). Regardless, he only made two mistakes. In the first half he should have thrown the ball out of bounds instead of taking a sack and we got lucky on his dropped pick in the second half.

Now for the rankings. Ultimately, I do not care. We will end up where we need to and I am mature enough now to realize sports enhance my life, they don't dictate them. But.......... based on performances and what happened to us after Florida, shouldn't Georgia drop below us being since they were tied with 4 minutes to go against a FL team playing with a 3rd string QB? I thought Florida sucks (obviously they do not). If Florida didn't lose their top 2 QB's (which we faced for 60 minutes) I think they would pose issues for every team on their schedule. Clemson lost! Iowa State lost (although they never should have been considered for the playoffs anyway). Penn State again is a fraud, and I hope they get one more loss and don't sneak in. Kansas State lost! Texas A&M lost! 6 teams in the top 18 lost (a third). It was the same thing that happened week 6 (except we won this time). People forgive early season losses. I think that will play well for us. Especially if Vandy is ranked when we play them.
Good post

Seldon didn’t play yesterday. Instead Lewis was the KR.
He wasn’t on the injury report.
He’s played in 4 games and only burns his redshirt if he plays in a 5th.

The math tells me Seldon is taking a redshirt. And likely transferring.
I swear, I saw #23 back there once. I assume it was Seldon.

This article has a comment from Heupel indicating he isn't 100%:

"And we've got to get Cam (Seldon) back and fully ready to go and just healthy. And hopefully DeSean will be ready and keep pushing those guys."

very ugly messy penalty win.

must continue to clean up timing issues

sloppy penalties and 'itty refs

We'll need Ga to be the Ga that played today against FL to have even a remote chance.
You mean the Georgia they have been all year and remote chance my azz. Georgia cannot run the ball in obvious running situations and put pressure on Lurch and he’s terrible. I think we can pressure ole tall dark and ugly. Their defense is not a cancerous lesion on our d’s backside.

Opposite side. We were packed in like sardines. When they narrowed the sear width, they didn’t take into consideration that the average Tennessee fan’s butt was getting wider.

It was a great experience for my daughter. Our stadium is a whole other level of crazy!

On a down side, the guy that sat next to me must live in the FF. He kept talking about how he had a bad feeling about this…every missed field goal was going to be how we lost.
The college student sitting next to my daughter asked me how I felt about the game. I said that we would win. He asked how I knew, I responded that beating kentucky is as sure as the sunrise tomorrow. And then I glared at the Debbie downer dude next to me. He quit with all the doom and gloom. 😂
I was there last night, squeezed in like sardines is an understatement.
I was there last night, I had to stand sideways when it was time to stand. There was no way we were all standing shoulder to shoulder.

We need a Denarius Moore or Justin Hunter.

Always felt so bad for the boys on that team. One of the biggest what if teams during the dark ages. They had the talent to make noise that year and a stupid coach held them back. Why Dooley thought hiring Sunseri and switching to a 3-4 was a good idea the world may never know. The defense had played extremely well given the circumstances under Wilcox in the 4-3 so why not get a DC with a similar scheme in a make or break it year. Glad we’re way past those days.

A decent majority of what you do on this board is hype up HS kids that haven’t played a single down of college football. And that’s cool. So who cares if people want to hype him up? He’s got potential through the roof. Peeps just cheering for him to maximize it.

He called him a “future millionaire”, said Jalen Hurd would win the Heisman in this offense and in the same post called him “a faster Hurd”.

But the issue is obviously everyone else hyping him up
