Recruiting Football Talk VIII

A scrappy Indiana team would not be my first choice, but i ain't scared.

Playing against our soul crunching defense and our very physical running game would be a total shock to their system...they have played no one with anywhere near the talent we have on offense or defense.

Playing in the crap lousy creampuff B1G, ACC and Big 12 must be nice.

We burned him last week since we were his first best bet of the week. Can’t really blame him for not thinking we cover based on how our offense has performed to date in SEC games.
Yeah why would anyone think we will cover when we can't even go into the half with points or the lead lately?

Yeah, I don't think this offense would have any trouble at all scoring on an Al Wilson & Deon Grant defense. . . i'm not sure a Tee Martin & Peerless Price could do much, really. That would actually be fun to watch. '98 Offense vs this year's Defense.
I didn't think in terms of directly comparing the teams in hypothetical head to head matchups, as it was a different game in '98 played by different rules (I personally believe the '97 was a better team than '98). I was comparing them against their peers and era.
This year's team is faster and deeper in comparison to their peers than '98 was. Offensively, we may not be putting up the numbers right now but the is team has the potential of being the most explosive in the country.
It is really impossible to compare them in a head to head as it was a different game and era. The great teams General Neyland were the greatest and most dominant teams Tennessee has ever had but I was thinking of the modern era. Having said that, the '51 team would probably have been run off the field by the '98 team in an actual matchup.
I still think this year's team will go down as the most complete Tennessee team yet.

Basilio breaking news that beginning next year every SEC team will play a Big 10 team, and it will be on some streaming service like HBO Max. It will continue each year.
Will there be zero commercial breaks in HBO? I'm sure they'll continue to double tax us. . . pay for the service and pay with time watching commercials as usual.

I'd like to see what the '97 or '98 team would do against today's teams. I'm fairly certain they'd easily be undefeated so far.

I know the refs screwed us majorly on his deep ball where even the announcers commented how the defender had a hold of his arm the entire time so he could only try and catch it with one hand, two refs watching, yet no call. You can't make this up.
We did that and they'd call holding, illegal formation, illegal touching, personal foul, and false start all for the one play.
My second favorite was when two of our d-linemen are being mugged and the refs call defensive holding on a completed pass on our secondary. At the time I said, "Finally a holding call." I was right it was on us.

Lol, there are ways around the pay wall.

Need to share them otherwise I will never see a second of any of these games if they’re on friggin HBO Max

Obviously I would have preferred to give them an old fashioned beatdown, but I really don’t mind that most of that fan base built up a little a bit of hope that they could pull off the upset throughout the game only to break their spirit one more time.

It’s the hope that kills you.
It is a little stressful watching some of these games but these close hard fought games are the type that callus your resolve when things aren't going the way you want. It pays off as the season wears on. If we make the playoffs we will be the team no one wants to see. Especially if Nico can start to string together good games late in the season.

this is what we'll need to have a prayer of winning... We played a ky team who was at half strength with injuries and barely got out with a W at home in dark mode... losing at half time (pathetic)... Auburn beat them worse... We'll need all the help we can get with the offense currently performing like it has the last 3-4 games...
I think we matchup with UGA. If I had to guess we will need to put up about 27. Every week we are getting closer on offense, but continue to shoot ourselves in the foot. The first half's has been bad, but I'm seeing incremental improvements in each game. Nico has put a stretch of 6 good quarters in a row.

Now this Troy Elliott should stalk down the other 869 voters and see what their opinions are.🤦

I'm sure there's some voters that hate Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State amongst others..

Curt Schilling was hated so bad by the Media the guy will never get into the Baseball HOF..
Why do you defend this 💩?

It's kind of funny the benefit of the doubt Texas gets during these early playoff discussions. What's their best win? 3 point road win against Vandy? Is getting blown out at home by UGA good enough to guarantee your spot in the playoffs?
Well they did handle ULM pretty nicely. I doubt it has anything to do with the fact that the are a top nationwide brand with a massive fanbase that would bring a huge television audience. But seriously, they will definitely still get in even after losing to UT in the SEC championship.
