Recruiting Football Talk VIII

This is wild!

Yes, my mother was a Kappa Delta and worked at headquarters here in Shelby County. She was the resident historian. John Tyler’s grand daughter was born in Shelby County and a founder of KD in 1897 in Virginia. My mother got to interview a family member several years back. Both John Tyler and his son had children at old ages.

volatil is the strangest one for me. Dude disappeared right as the 2022 season and Heupel era was starting to take off. Last logged in Sept. 15, 2022. Didn't even get to celebrate the UF victory on here, let alone the Bama win. I know that message boards are far down the list of priorities for most people but it's a bummer for someone who was a fixture on here to not be around when we start having success.
He’s celebrating plenty…just not on here.

I smell what the crock is cooking. We start low. We move up with a win against MS State and the other likely losses by higher ranked squads. We make a jump for our date with destiny: UGA.

Someone mentioned a custom fishing rod that you can personalize and add a Bible verse. Does anyone know what company is best for that? I want to buy one for my dad for Christmas.
You could buy a custom decal and add what you want. If you search fishing rod custom decals there are quite a few things that pop up. Going to try a custom decal soon with one of mine.

Mudhole.com is one but I don't know anything about them. Probably can find custom decals that would work on eBay or Amazon too.

Not really. I provided evidence as to why it was a 30 point game, which is what everyone points to as a detriment. More so than actually beating Bama head to head.

We had a competent backup who had been a starter, but who is following that on the committee?

Just admit that the been big Bama name dud it. As someone else posted, Bama previously won titles, so that’s why they got the nod. The names and ratings matter.
lol you say in one statement "we could have won if we didn't have the backup qb in" then in the next statement "they shouldn't say we're not as good of a team just because our backup qb is in." You really think if Bryce Young had been injured instead of Hooker and everything else remained the same that Bama would have jumped us?

Ratings do matter, that's why they don't want teams with subpar backups taking over for injured starting QBs taking the prime ranking spots. That's why they didn't want the FSU backup in the playoff game, because ratings would have tanked because FSU was not the 4th best team in the country with him at QB. You're exactly right, it's about ratings, and the committee believes the ratings will be best if teams are ranked according to how good they actually are with their backup qb not how good their season was before the star qb got injured.

Again, I believe all that should matter is the season and the resume, not subjective opining on how good a team will be now that the star qb is injured; but this "they only picked bama because they love bama" stuff is just nonsense. There is plenty of logical reasoning behind dropping a team who just lost their star qb. I don't agree with it because I prefer (subjectively) that the season and the resume is all that determines the final ranking; but it's just dumbfounding that so many of you can't see the logic in their approach.

We’d be ranked between 5-7 if we were undefeated

They would argue that we could still have an injury to QB or RB or coach could have a heart attack. They’d say potentially an earthquake could take out our university. Plane could go down mid flight to Athens. They’d say there are credible rumors that our players just don’t want to play anymore and quit en masse.

I don’t care

Keep winning

Beat both sets of dogs coming up and shut em all up

The other teams defenses aren't the reason we are not scoring 40 points a game...it depends on Nico seeing the open guys, throwing a catchable ball to our open guys and our open guys catching the freaking passes that hit them in the freaking hands.

If our OL just gives adequately protection, and we do those things...we mop the floor with everybody on the schedule.

In other words...NOBODY is stopping us, we are literally stopping ourselves.

But at some point that is going to change and we are going to unload.
Hope it changes before we get punched in the mouth and lose another one to a team that should have no business on the field with us.

As a nearly decade and a half vet of this forum lots and lots of people come and go. The longer you post the less it seems post, but in my experience its really just us remembering all the people that left. That number is very high. Always was. You can go back and rattle off posters from 15 years ago that most here would not know. Some of them are simply dead. At one time this place was a little more wild too. They've clamped down on that over time. That is a lot of departures too. Many of them come back as other names and toned down personalities. There are a few posters now I would bet are "others".

On a brighter note
How many new copperheads have we celebrated this year? A ton.

I love whoever started that trend.

100. I actually think top 3 if undefeated because we'd be the only SEC team with that crown.

If you don’t see that ESPN pushes narratives, too, then it’s dumbfounding to me. It’s plain as day that the networks are pushing teams. Just like conference realignment. It’s all being run by the networks and money.

There is no logic in dropping a team behind a team that the first team beat head to head with the same record and better wins. No logic. Especially when it comes to a bowl game and not the playoff! I will leave it at that.
