lol you say in one statement "we could have won if we didn't have the backup qb in" then in the next statement "they shouldn't say we're not as good of a team just because our backup qb is in." You really think if Bryce Young had been injured instead of Hooker and everything else remained the same that Bama would have jumped us?
Ratings do matter, that's why they don't want teams with subpar backups taking over for injured starting QBs taking the prime ranking spots. That's why they didn't want the FSU backup in the playoff game, because ratings would have tanked because FSU was not the 4th best team in the country with him at QB. You're exactly right, it's about ratings, and the committee believes the ratings will be best if teams are ranked according to how good they actually are with their backup qb not how good their season was before the star qb got injured.
Again, I believe all that should matter is the season and the resume, not subjective opining on how good a team will be now that the star qb is injured; but this "they only picked bama because they love bama" stuff is just nonsense. There is plenty of logical reasoning behind dropping a team who just lost their star qb. I don't agree with it because I prefer (subjectively) that the season and the resume is all that determines the final ranking; but it's just dumbfounding that so many of you can't see the logic in their approach.
