Recruiting Football Talk VIII

You could buy a custom decal and add what you want. If you search fishing rod custom decals there are quite a few things that pop up. Going to try a custom decal soon with one of mine.

Mudhole.com is one but I don't know anything about them. Probably can find custom decals that would work on eBay or Amazon too.
Thank you

Yes, my mother was a Kappa Delta and worked at headquarters here in Shelby County. She was the resident historian. John Tyler’s grand daughter was born in Shelby County and a founder of KD in 1897 in Virginia. My mother got to interview a family member several years back. Both John Tyler and his son had children at old ages.
I like it. That's pretty interesting..

Our D is so crazy clutch it’s so impressive. I’ve never been confident in our own red zone until this year. we completely lock in every time minus a few times all year. You can literally see the opponent change their offensive identity completely when they get to the red zone because of how stout we are there. So so so impressive

Just ignore the people who post crap you don't like. I say that about my own posts too. Once you ignore what you dislike what is left is suited to you.

For me the one bright spot of this thread is you get a condensed version of all of it. Even non-sense outside of Vols and sports. There is little I am not in tune with just watching here.
I got to look at it to ignore it. Unworkable solution.

I would love this. Think it would be a great game and the battle of the two best running backs in the college world. Sick
It does fit the good storyline criteria which would help ratings, because nobody would be excited to watch Boise. Probably would happen if the powers that be could swing it but it won't be the 7 v 8 game cause we will be the 1, 2, or 3 seed.

Beat bama, im sorry dominated bama
The same team that beat uga

Bama last four drives were 4 three and outs for 3 yards and a to

Out scored them 24-10 after halftime and could’ve put 40 plus on them

We might just have something for UGA

Offense looking better each week

Really hope nobody gives us a chance in two weeks

The first four slots are supposed to go to conference champions at the end of the season, right? It would suck if someone like Clemson were to beat Miami in the ACC title game and both teams get in.
Well Clemson would need either Miami or SMU to lose to even make it to the ACC championship game.

If you don’t see that ESPN pushes narratives, too, then it’s dumbfounding to me. It’s plain as day that the networks are pushing teams. Just like conference realignment. It’s all being run by the networks and money.

There is no logic in dropping a team behind a team that the first team beat head to head with the same record and better wins. No logic. Especially when it comes to a bowl game and not the playoff! I will leave it at that.
Of course they push narratives. But that doesn't mean there's no logic in what they did. The committee ranking isn't just about the playoff. They had a goal (to rank teams according to how good they believe each one is, not by their past performance) that doesn't just involve the top 4 teams. If that's all they cared about, they wouldn't even do rankings beyond the top 4. By dropping us for losing Hooker, they set the stage for what actually mattered for the playoff the very next year when they dropped FSU. They were showing consistency in dropping teams for losing starting QBs.

It's very logical to say "our goal is to rank the teams according to how good we think they currently are not just what they did in the past," and then to drop someone in the ranking for losing a starting QB. That's textbook logic: state your criteria and then apply that exact criteria to your decision.

You just can't get past your own bias to see it because you believe so strongly that they shouldn't be trying to prognosticate on who is the better team, they should just look at the resume only.

Getting back to being productive with one final thought.

For once in a lifetime we completely control our destiny with 3 final games. We will be favored in all but one of those.

AR sucks, but we still completely control our fate. I am stoked.
We controlled our own destiny for the final 3 games in 2022. But yes, prior to that it had been a long time.

We play primarily a soft cover two and rush four, hunting ints until they get near field goal range. Then there is less grass to cover and we tend to play more cover one and go bear quite a bit. That is when we are smothering.

Yep and our blitz package is top tier in the red zone

I love when we bring the Heavy’s out on 1st/2nd and goal

Now this Troy Elliott should stalk down the other 869 voters and see what their opinions are.🤦

I'm sure there's some voters that hate Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State amongst others..

Curt Schilling was hated so bad by the Media the guy will never get into the Baseball HOF..
Surely you can see it's a bad look. She will never be able to defend her pick if it's anti Tennessee.

Logic is defined by a science that deals with the principles and criteria of validity of inference and demonstration. Just because they state a criteria and apply that criteria does not mean it’s logical. “Science” is the pursuit and application of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world through systemic methodology based on evidence.

So, they throw out the hard evidence of head to head wins and records and throw in that we “feel” the team isn’t as good with the backup QB. So, that alone overcomes and outweighs the hard evidence when the hard evidence would clearly lean to UT being the higher ranked team. All committees have the subjective “out” to choose what they want to use to include teams. Additionally, in this age of opt-outs, they most certainly can’t project what the teams will look like in bowl games outside the playoff. That’s even more of a reason not to use subjective reasoning outside what was the top 4 at the time.

No point in discussing it anymore though. I’m sure others are tired of it. But wait for it to continue to happen. The networks will be the mouthpiece for what they want.
