UT - 14
LSU - 13

The #1 Tigers and Billy Cannon traveled to Knoxville, and only once in 11 previous games had an LSU team defeated Tennessee, and Tennessee again had bad news for LSU.

The Tigers overwhelmed the Volunteers statistically—outgained them 334 yards to 112—but, by letting a cornerback named Jim Cartwright steal a pass and scoot 59 yards for a touchdown and by fumbling to provide Tennessee another scoring opportunity, found themselves behind 14-7 in the last quarter. Then a Tennessee fumble at the two resulted in a quick LSU touchdown and a noteworthy decision by Coach Paul Dietzel: to go for two points and victory.

Tennessee's Coach Bowden Wyatt jumped up and down and bellowed a warning, unheard by his team in the uproar, to watch out for Cannon. He could have saved his breath. Well-drilled for Cannon's patented off-tackle slants, the Vols were, as Wyatt said later, "mentally stacked up over there. We had 11 people thinking about that hole. That's where LSU has found the white meat all year."

Through bloody lips Tackle Wayne Grubb yelled, "He's coming on the power play," as LSU lined up. Cannon slammed into the line and was smothered 18 inches from the goal.

It was over…..UT had defeated the #1 team in the country for the first time in school history.

The committee must value which teams you lose to as much as who you beat on the field, only logical answer.

Out of the 3 teams that McElroy is comparing, Tennessee probably has the worse loss vs Arkansas..🤷 also has the best win vs Alabama. Just win baby.
Ya never know how its gonna go down the stretch.

Leaving for Knox in the morning and driving up from Memphis. I haven’t been since Florida 2022. I’m really excited to catch a night game in Neyland.

I’m staying near market square and I haven’t frequented that area in the past. What are the best restaurants and bars? I’m bringing my friend, that’s a Miss St grad, and I want to show him a good time.

We haven't been this year but have been the last few years. We went to Stock and Barrell one Friday night and then caught Soccer Taco on gameday. It gets crowded though. I don't think there are many true bars on Market Square but should be in the downtown area.

If doing a bar in Market Square, there is Scruffy City Hall/Preservation Pub. On Gay St just behind is Suttree’s. Other than that, it’s a hop and a skip down to Old City where there are more bar options.

Market Square is awesome. All the places are good that I have eaten at. Over the years some come and go, but i have never had a bad experience. This works for all ages, but for young kids or older relatives this is the best way to tailgate imo. The square is always bustling in afternoon with stuff to do.

A couple I have frequented more recently. I likely ate at another one or two and just don't recall because it was post game after a long day.

Stock and Barrel
Tupelo Honey
Myrtles

Pay the small money and ride the trolley before and after. It is totally worth it.
