Dunno about bribes, but I so believe it takes years- decades to bring a national program to relevancy. Further a galvanized strategy of 'put all eggs in sports no one gives a **** about' to win Gold. HGH etc can propel that forward by years, one would think. Look at Lance Armstrong's domination, McGwire, etcetritti etceterratti

China having such a strong Olympics, especially in swimming, is not surprising to me after Beijing in 2008. That was such a great Olympics and I think it really inspired a lot of kids and parents of young kids to aim for athletics. That's when Phelps and Bolt captivated the world.

Who would you say were the equivalents this year? Haven't paid super close attention but nobody really pops out for me on the world scale.

Yes if the teams are close in talent. This game was like Tennessee playing Tennessee State in basketball. This board would've blew a gasket if the game was that close.

Not exactly. These are all professionals. France has medaled in 3 of the last 4 Olympics and was 4th in the other. They’ve been top 3 in the last 14 years in the Euro League. Because of summer commitments and higher pay, there are international women players that don’t play in the WNBA. They also played at home.

Sure, the US didn’t play well, but I don’t apologize for winning.

Like I said, I enjoy watching her play more than anyone else.

But data does matter. Turnovers are a huge thing. She’s 69th in the league in assist-turnover ratio (to support her having the 2nd highest turnover % in the league).

By the next Olympics, hell by next year, I would expect that her 3PT shooting % and A-T ratio are greatly improved and there will be zero question on whether or not she deserves to be on the team. Just bad timing with her first year in league being Olympic year. She’s had less time to prove herself.

Part of her turnover issues are her teammates not being very good.

Just watching her this year and watching the women's team.

There is no question beyond a shadow of a doubt she should be PG for the Olympic team. Just as someone who loves basketball and has eyeballs.

Also, over the last month of WNBA play, CC's assist to turnover ratio and shooting% improved dramatically. She's probably on the team if she starts off that well.
