Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Georgia is next to last in the SEC in Rushing
Yeah their offense hasn't really been that good. Been a nice drop form their previous years OLine (not as much quality depth either) and I think that has a lot to do with it...if we protect the ball I think we win regardless. I think our defense will come ready to play. Our receivers will absolutely need to make some plays though because I know they will try to take away Samson.

Just wanted to see how Nico stacks up against other young QBs.

QBs that have been in college 2 years or less:
**Ordered by passing yards**

Eli Holsten (Pitt):
- 2100 passing yards, 62%
- 17 TDs / 6INTs

Darian Mensah (Tulane): Freshman
- 2059 passing yards, 65%
- 16 TDs / 4 INTs
(Kid will transfer somewhere good next year I bet)

Jalen Raynor (Ark St):
- 2034 passing yards, 61%
- 8 TDs / 8 INTs

Anthony Colandrea (Virginia):
- 1948 passing yards, 63%
- 12 TDs / 8 INTs

Avery Johnson (KSU):
- 1892 passing yards, 61%
- 17 TDs / 7 INTs

Gio Lopez (South Bama): Freshman
- 1891 passing yards, 65%
- 14 TDs / 2INTs
(Another kid that will be on a great team next year)

Nico Iamaleava (UT):
- 1879 passing yards, 65%
- 11 TDs / 4 INTs

Dylan Raiola (Neb): Freshman
- 1921 passing yards, 65%
- 10 TDs / 8 INTs

Nico leads all the underclassmen in the SEC in passing yards, 6th overall.

Nico should have about 2300 yards and probably around 15 to 16 touchdowns considering how many TDs have been dropped/overthrown. He has had a solid year for a freshman though.

If we are going to do preseason polls and polls starting week one then this needs to be ranked wins when you play them... not current.

How do you get penalized for beating a team that was ranked and because you beat them they fell out of the top 25.

That is what strength of schedule is for.

We actually have the most wins against ranked teams this year - and zero losses vs ranked teams.
I agree.
When it comes time they'll look at it whichever way justifies their decision better. They will leave out things that make us look better, although they should be arguing for us with the ratings we bring to the table.

We are not getting in without beating Georgia.

As much as I hate to say it this guy is not wrong in the slightest. Bama will 100% get in over us if we lose this weekend and there’s no doubt about it because we don’t receive any love by most members of the media (No hype) and we don’t play high octane offensive football that wins the minds of the committee (No respect) because we’re winning with a dominant defense.

This is a playoff elimination game and everyone knows it. This might be the biggest regular season game in the Josh Heupel era in terms of ramifications. Win this weekend and everyone will shut up about downplaying our success and CJH can finally get the “No Big Road Wins” monkey off his back.
I am starting to believe this as well. Sucks.

Ummm - down to a pick em on the model folks.

Model Prediction

17.2 - UGA
17.4 - Vols

Yards Per Play4.49
Passing YPA5.96
Rushing YPC2.79
Consistency Score 82.03
Yards Per Play4.79
Passing YPA6.78
Rushing YPC3.54
Consistency Score87.44

That feels much more accurate to me than the spread. Our defense has been good enough to keep us in every game and UGA has their worst offense in years. Game feels like a coin flip to me. Our defense keeps us in it and a few big plays will decide the game. It could go either way.

I know CJH hasn't been great on the road. This is a big opportunity to leave that concern behind in a game with massive stakes.

....Is it deserved? In my opinion, no. We’re playing complimentary football and we haven’t needed a high powered offense to win any game we’ve played. The committee obviously doesn’t agree with us.
The good thing is all these yammerers are just media and media wannabes. We don't know what the committee thinks.

And best of all, we are not dependent on anyone else.

We control our own destiny.
