Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I honestly think if Texas loses to A&M, we should jump them. They have 0 ranked wins, and losses would be to A&M and UGA (at home). We would have a great ranked win over Bama. How do you put them in over us with 2 losses?
Definitely. I think the committee might try their hardest to do it though especially if A&M is in the mix as a 2 loss team that went to the SECCG,

At which point will we be there? Y5, 6, 8...10?

It doesnt take other programs that long to start signing top classes. Sarkisian is at #4 , what year is he?

This staff is in Y4. Has an orange bowl win, top QB. I dont buy it.
Although I agree with you, you also have to at least admit it’s a heck of a lot easier to recruit within the state of TX when you’re the HC of the University of Texas.

SEC will get 4 in the playoff. Assuming all favorites win out who’s in? Texas and UGA for sure. 2 from the following get in- TN, Bama, OM, A&M. A&M should be first out. If no Bama bias it should be us and OM. Do I trust a committee to not be biased in favor of Bama? I do not.

Fairest 4 would be TX, UGA, TN, OM.

Have you seen the schedule? That on top of his inability to win road games in the SEC, it’s highly possible. I didn’t say he would, but it’s definitely not a given he won’t.

I have and I count 9 wins without having to even think about the game. The other 3 (@ Bama, @ FL, vs UGA) will determine how strong of a season Vols have.

It’s not even remotely highly possible he goes 7-5.

Jefferson Pilot used to list all the officials working ball games.

ESPN might.... might tell you the head official's name.

Transparency would go a long way with me.

If the SEC refuses to hire professional refereees then I would like to know who all is officiating the game and what university they graduated from. Maybe the officials can do like the players do on Sunday night football. When the game begins, they can introduce themselves and what school they went to.

For example:

The referee tonight was David Smith. He was quarterback for the university of alabama in the 80s and was team captain in 1988. How is he supposed to be impartial when TN is involved?

I’m more amazed at the fact that the review booth stopped play more than once to correct a no call. I couldn’t believe that the review booth reversed the “fumble” recovered by Tennessee and changed it to an incomplete pass for uga. That’s the worst part is that they should not have been able to do that. I have not seen that in any other game. Why aren’t they stopping play with the egregious no calls on the uga OL holding our DL?
I can’t remember the other review booth interruption, but it also significantly benefited uga to our team’s detriment. 😡

Just curious, going into this season did you see Arkansas as a loss? And did you see Vandy as a probable win but not surprising L? Because I sure didn’t.

I need to explain this to me like I'm three years old. Why are we out of the playoffs as a two game loser, when Bama is in it when we beat them and they lost to Vandy? (that win against LSU wasn't impressive considering what we saw last night from them against Florida, who we also beat)
Worth noting we only have one win over a bowl eligible team

Doesn’t matter anyway. I would bet nearly any amount of money that a dude who (if we get to 10 wins this season) averages nearly 9 regular season wins per year at UT won’t go 7-5 next year.

There are posts all over VN right now that make it hard not to despise this arrogant, entitled, half-witted, suicidal fanbase.

I'll just leave this here for the cocksure, impatient dumbasses.

Within 4 years, we're competing with the best teams in NCAAF for the College Football playoff, having spent three years in NCAA violation money-bag purgatory, with the staff having taken over a partial roster after what little talent we'd had jumped off the sinking ship.

And folks are ready to fire staff because we didn't beat a very good UGA team on the road.

Just absolutely brazen, disloyal, entitled dumbassery, and you people should be ashamed of yourselves.

I think it’s ridiculous that a ball not thrown from an arm throwing motion is considered a “pass,” if the ball is behind the line and is flicked or underhand tossed with two hands etc. anything not an actual downfield throwing motion, should not be called a pass. ( if it’s behind the line of scrimmage )

All legit gripes.

I dont think that Herb is a Georgia fan, but took his commentary during game as Georgia's win is a foregone conclusion. Arrogant presumption that they were going to win.
Well hell what have we seen that would suggest otherwise? Kirby is extremely calm and confident every time they interview him during a Tennessee game. They always win by two or more scores. Even without many key starters (last night) it’s a joke at this point
