Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Apologies for my outburst last night. I am reposting yesterday's devotional too because it was spot on. I just realized it too late. Tough loss but more important things are out there for all of us.

November 17, 2024: When you pray, do not speak to the air. Search for God until you connect with Him. Come in faith without any unbelief or doubt. You have to be convinced that Christ will hear and answer your prayer. James 1:5-8 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

November 16, 2024: Examine the things that have caused you to be upset. If there is something you can do to make changes, do so. But, if there is nothing you can do, accept it and move on. You would do well to put it behind you and take the next step in drawing closer to Me, says the Lord. Your fruitless striving drives a wedge between us. Proverbs 20:3 It is honorable for a man to stop striving, since any fool can start a quarrel.

Heupel seems like Butch when it comes to hiring and firing his buddies.
Clemson fired their good but never elite defensive and offensive coordinators to make that jump as well. Recruiting went from the teens to top 5-10 every year and their elite run took place 2015-2020
Ok, final thoughts for UGA y

Recruiting has to get better, has too. Gass and Smith absolutely have to be part of this class, have to get Campbell. Ideally, Ellarbee needs to get off his ass and find another G.

Team has played well, really this was our worst game. Offense has regressed, time to take next step versus some team from TX.

Defense needs to regroup and see what's at stake.

There is no reason, never. ever a reason to lose to Candy. BTW, Austin Howard committed to them today😅 We have to get better on the trail.

I don’t understand how anyone says he isn’t elite x and os when he won back to back
Titles and is in the playoff hunt every year. Last night he out coached us plain and simple. We actually have a team who can match up with them for once. And we did, until they adjusted and out coached us. They had an elite gameplan to stop our pass rush and shut our offense down second half.
He is elite, he coaches circles around Tennessee every year as well as recruits anyone he wants. A lot of which come outside the state of Georgia. Tennessee needs to match that intensity.

We’re a 5 win team right now without Sampson and this defense.

Wouldn't say the team has played well, I’d say Sampson and the defense has played well.

Safeties, and CB's have made plays, Nico has made plays, so has ST.

A team is a team. The only part of team that havent really stepped up are WR. They arent good.

Will Brooks has done some great things here, but I can't wait to get more athletic at safety. He and Turrentine leave some room for more.

Huepel is NOT going to be on the hotseat man.
Man I don’t even know why I’m doing this to myself by defending my point, because I don’t want him to be on the hot seat. But if you’re telling me he goes 7-5 in year 5 and that doesn’t put him on the hot seat after we’ve fired coaches for similar paths, you’re kidding yourself. Again, for those in the back, I am not calling for his head today, my main point is based on next year’s schedule, this year was far easier to make a playoff bid.

Ohh we had a better OL then?

We had many of same issues, we just had Darnell Wright which equalized many issues. The constant has been Ellarbee, who is notna great, or even good recruiter here in Y4

You inadvertently supported my point with the bold.

In defense of Ellarbee, or Heupel if you want to make that argument, last year's and this incoming year's OL class are quite good.

Building an elite roster takes time. Heupel punching above his weight deceives our fanbase into thinking we have a roster capable of winning it all. We simply aren't there, yet.

I just wish our fanbase understood this dynamic and were appreciative of having a coach capable of punching above his weight WHILE slowing and consistently adding weight.

He has made plays against the meh completion.

Again 2 TDs against the tougher part of our schedule isn’t good. (UGA, Bama, FL, Ark, OU)

While throwing a whopping 58%
178 yards per game

He’s not going anywhere this year or next, and nor should he. But if he goes 8-4 or 7-5 next year, which is absolutely possible, no way he enters 2026 without being on the hot seat.

And yes, I agree. There needs to be some massive staffing overhaul after this season.

What on earth makes you think it’s absolutely possible that he could go 7-5 next year 😂
