If Thornton isn’t in a splint and catches either one of the passes he dropped that’s a different game even with the refs hosing us. WR has to be the most pressing need right now. Gone are the days of running the ball every play and expecting to win (no matter how good you are at it). Also gone are the days when defense can be expected to completely shut down opponents. CFB is big offense now.It was a one score game deep into the 4th. But we clearly need to upgrade talent a multiple positions. WR, OL, LB, S
We have been in a talent hole too. Managing to beat BAMA twice with the roster we have compared to theirs is a miracle. Our ability to make fair comparisons to UGA and BAMA started this season and even then we’re still behind. But we haven’t beaten those two teams on the road under Heupel? How are those impressive road wins?
At which point will we be there? Y5, 6, 8...10?
It doesnt take other programs that long to start signing top classes. Sarkisian is at #4 , what year is he?
This staff is in Y4. Has an orange bowl win, top QB. I dont buy it.
Believe the poster is referring to this season.@ #18 Kentucky
@ #17 Pittsburgh
@ #15 Oklahoma

Safeties, and CB's have made plays, Nico has made plays, so has ST.
A team is a team. The only part of team that havent really stepped up are WR. They arent good.
UTC- FCS
NC State- 5-5
Kent State- 0-10
Oklahoma- 5-5 (2-5 last 7 games)
Florida- 5-5 (OT W)
Bama- 8-2
Kentucky- 4-6 (10 point win)
Miss State- 2-8
I dont see a single game here besides the Bama game that committee can look at as a quality win
ThisSome of y’all need to sack up! Hated how soft we looked after the first quarter, hated our defensive game plan, and hated that we did not lean on our running game that was effective in the fourth quarter. However, in our fourth year after wondering in the wilderness for almost 15 years, Heupel has us 8–2 and still in the playoff hunt. In hindsight, going into Georgia at night last night with them having two losses was a monstrous task. I felt like we sensed when the calls started going against us in the second quarter, that we knew the SEC was going to do everything possible to prevent Georgia from losing a third game. The game seemed to be called pretty evenly in the first quarter. We need to flush this game, and be mad the next two weeks. Don’t give anything to chance, and certainly don’t let the SEC send one of their crony refereeing Crews to Vanderbilt and try to put them in position to give us a third loss.Be aggressive, and go obliterate our next two opponents. If we do that, I still think we have a better résumé than at least three of the SEC teams that will be in front of us on Tuesday night.
Counterpoint. There are posts all over VN right now that make it hard not to despise this arrogant, entitled, half-witted, suicidal fanbase.
I'll just leave this here for the cocksure, impatient dumbasses.
Within 4 years, we're competing with the best teams in NCAAF for the College Football playoff, having spent three years in NCAA violation money-bag purgatory, with the staff having taken over a partial roster after what little talent we'd had jumped off the sinking ship.
And folks are ready to fire staff because we didn't beat a very good UGA team on the road.
Just absolutely brazen, disloyal, entitled dumbassery, and you people should be ashamed of yourselves.
I was replying to a post asking about what big road wins besides LSU has Heupel had. But either I completely imagined that post or it just disappeared.Believe the poster is referring to this season.
Tennessee defeated Alabama so yes Tennessee has defeated a Bowl Eligible team but the 3 you posted.
Kentucky is 4-6 this season and has to win out to be Bowl Eligible
Oklahoma is 5-5 probably ends up 5-7
When did Tennessee play Pittsburgh this season?

It’s hilarious that we say “well UGA was more talented blah blah blah” and then when it comes to recruiting we’re like “hell yeah, rankings don’t matter”
Which is it because I’m confused? Lol
This is the truthBru, our best receiver, really should be a #3 possession type receiver. Donte just doesn’t have the consistency in getting open or catching balls.
The rest are not good. Mike Matthews has the potential to be great, but he barely sees the field.
We just don’t have a game breaker.
