Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Nah, it is what it is. Banks was the only one to take the job. I was hopeful that he'd grow in the position but here we are watching the same crap we saw 4 years ago. 4th and 30+ dropping 8 into coverage and allowing Will Levis to throw a pass to a wide open reciever 40 yards down field. The same no pressure/no cover scheme.
Mike Stowell on the Sports Source just said Banks should've rushed more than 4 . Never made an in game adjustments.

People are setting themselves up for disappointment. If 5-6 teams in the SEC finish at 10-2, Tennessee is getting left out. We aren’t one of the favored children. If Texas drops that game at A&M, they’ll find a way to keep them in. Unless Alabama or Ole Miss lays an egg against Auburn or Florida, it’s over unfortunately.

Yea he should have and played tight man coverage. Beck throws picks when pressured. He’s also not an accurate QB (most of the time) Notice how all those big plays nobody was within 3 yards. He started the game 3-10 passing because we actually play man on the outside. Then they realized they need to attack the inside and seams and they destroyed us

I specifically watched the d line. He rushed 5 a time or two. Faked it a bunch. It was so bad that I pondered the thought he was throwing the game. I really don't believe that because it's his normal MO.

If you're standing on the ledge just remember what you thought about this season 6 months ago.

You probably said you expected 10-2 with losses to Bama and Georgia. You probably said you could see us dropping an extra road SEC game dependent on how Nico/the O was playing. You probably circled OU as a possible hiccup game. Or maybe NC State. You probably said 9-3 would be a success and a good start to the Nico Era, 8-4 or less a disappointment, but if we went 10-2 maybe we could get an at-large bid.

And here we sit. We dropped a road game early in the season. We beat Bama. We lost to Georgia. We are on track for 10-2 as long as we do our jobs. We are on the cusp of an at-large bid.

We sit now in a position better than I certainly expected (bc we beat Bama) and probably many of you too. The loss and frustration is fresh but if you're mad right now just take a dang breath and try a 30,000 foot perspective.

We're lucky to have the program where it is right now. A coach that HATES losing and has turned us into a national powerhouse in such a short time. I'm not taking any of this for granted. We lost a de facto playoff game on the road to a team that has been at the top for a long, long time. It's not the end of the world and it doesn't mean this program and coach and QB can't or will never get us to the top. It's coming.

The final score would indicate that, but watching both games, you never thought Tennessee stood a legitimate chance in the 2nd half. Both were 2 TD margins, but UGA took the gas off in 2022 up 24-6 at HT, and then put the gas on after spotting a 10-pt lead, last night, outscoring Tennessee 31-7.

So, if the definition of competitive is that we didn't get beat by 4 TDs, then I guess you're right, but neither game was ever threatened in the 2nd half.

Exactly. The final score makes the game look much closer than it was. At no point after the 1st quarter when Georgia scored to make it 10-7 did I think we’d win. They were moving the ball with ease. They punted 1 time the rest of the game. Once! And our offense did mostly nothing after the first drive of the game. Even after the Carter punt return that set us up on the Georgia 35 we went 3 and out. We got dominated last night. The final score just doesn’t show it.

Probably right.......but you know that there are still a lot of games to be played.

Nothing is gonna be "chalk"....................Especially this year.

There isn't a dominant team. Weird stuff is gonna happen. :)

The only 2 results that would help us is Alabama versus Auburn and Ole Miss versus Florida. And I can’t see either of those going our way. Unlike most, I think 11-1 Indiana is in no matter what. Even if they lose by 60. The Big 10 is getting 4 teams in.

If IU gets boatraced vs Ohio St...............they might lose to Purdue.... ;)

Correct me if I’m wrong but why do people just ask for Ohio State to decimate IU to get a big 10 out of the playoff. Why wouldn’t IU giving Ohio State another L kick them out with 2 losses. I get their losses are to two “top 5 teams” but I’m sorry 2 losses in conference in the big 10 should send you packing
Honestly, I just never considered the possibility of OSU losing? It's a good question... But I have a feeling OSU gets the same favorable thoughts Texas and Bama gets... So it's just assumed they're in,'cause, OSU... And IU doesn't. And getting blown out by OSU just validates any issues one Maui have with their sos etc.
