Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Correct me if I’m wrong but why do people just ask for Ohio State to decimate IU to get a big 10 out of the playoff. Why wouldn’t IU giving Ohio State another L kick them out with 2 losses. I get their losses are to two “top 5 teams” but I’m sorry 2 losses in conference in the big 10 should send you packing
Honestly, I just never considered the possibility of OSU losing? It's a good question... But I have a feeling OSU gets the same favorable thoughts Texas and Bama gets... So it's just assumed they're in,'cause, OSU... And IU doesn't. And getting blown out by OSU just validates any issues one Maui have with their sos etc.

Osu has a win over psu and Osu has a bias. Indiana isn’t looked as favorable and Osu would be the only decent team they’ve played. Getting blown out will knock them down more than Osu

Derrick Henry finished the 2015 regular season with 22 rushing TDs. He scored 6 more touchdowns in the SEC Champ game and playoffs combined (15 games).

Najee Harris had 26 total touchdowns in 13 games in 2020. At the end of the 10 game reg season (Covid) he had 22 TDs.

Dylan Sampson is currently at 21 with 2 regular season games remaining (10 games).

Sampson is tied with Manziel and Trent Richardson at 21. Behind Fournette at 22. Tre Mason and Tebow have 23. Then Harris 26 and Henry 28.

Here’s what I wanna know… Please tell me that there will be neutral crews calling the playoffs, meaning whoever referees each game will be from a completely different conference than the two teams playing in that game? I just have to firmly believe that if we went out, we will be in the playoffs. I cannot believe that we get left out at 10–2 with a win over a top 10 Alabama. So, I want to know that every game we play in the playoffs is called by a neutral Crew so that we can get a fair shake for a change.

I specifically watched the d line. He rushed 5 a time or two. Faked it a bunch. It was so bad that I pondered the thought he was throwing the game. I really don't believe that because it's his normal MO.
It's worked all year. Our 4 have gotten home regularly, we haven't needed to adjust or be creative. I hate to say it's lack of effort, but there's no way effort wasn't at least part of it when UGA OL has been porous all year. No way they all just fixed all their problems overnight or they hadn't been trying all year until now.

But ya, I was baffled in the 4th quarter when we'd had only 2 or 3 pressures the entire night that we were still just sending 4 and beck was still just picking apart our mediocre secondary. Nothing changed. I guess they didn't plan for our DL being completely ineffective all of a sudden. And UGA wasn't keeping extra TE or RB back to help much after the first quarter. It was just their OL dominating our DL.

Playoffs games are usually refs from outside the conference of the two teams.

If you're standing on the ledge just remember what you thought about this season 6 months ago.

You probably said you expected 10-2 with losses to Bama and Georgia. You probably said you could see us dropping an extra road SEC game dependent on how Nico/the O was playing. You probably circled OU as a possible hiccup game. Or maybe NC State. You probably said 9-3 would be a success and a good start to the Nico Era, 8-4 or less a disappointment, but if we went 10-2 maybe we could get an at-large bid.

And here we sit. We dropped a road game early in the season. We beat Bama. We lost to Georgia. We are on track for 10-2 as long as we do our jobs. We are on the cusp of an at-large bid.

We sit now in a position better than I certainly expected (bc we beat Bama) and probably many of you too. The loss and frustration is fresh but if you're mad right now just take a dang breath and try a 30,000 foot perspective.
I'm not mad about losing to UGA on the road. Losing to arky is what makes me mad. Squandered a golden opportunity to host a playoff game.

I think we can still make the play off, I'm not writing off this season. Especially now that byu and Miami have lost. If Notre Dame can drop one of their last two we'll really be in a good spot.

But I don't see a 3 loss sec team (whoever loses to Texas in the champ game) getting in, so I think our odds are still over 50%

We are getting to the point where ole miss had a win over Georgia, and we beat bama. Who is bama’s best win? LSU? Who ole miss beat too, and we are finding out lsu isn’t good. And we beat bama head to head? And ole miss has an equally bad if not worse loss than we do.edit I’m an idiot, forgot bama beat Georgia. I still think head to head matters but we are toast.

The only 2 results that would help us is Alabama versus Auburn and Ole Miss versus Florida. And I can’t see either of those going our way. Unlike most, I think 11-1 Indiana is in no matter what. Even if they lose by 60. The Big 10 is getting 4 teams in.
If Indiana loses by 60 they are absolutely not going to be in the playoffs

Ole Miss has two bad losses now since LSU lost to Florida yesterday. They also struggled with Oklahoma.

It took Jim Harbaugh years to breakthrough at Michigan, and he didn’t have to play UGA and Bama every year.

We’ve got to stack as much talent as possible.
He broke through because he cheated.
Dabo is the best excuse and he bought his titles.
Kirby played in the NCG in year 2.

Heupel isn't going to get it done unless we start spending more on the roster.

Bama beat UGA and thrashed LSU. Both their losses were on the road to above average teams.

UGA thrashed Texas and Tennessee. Both their losses were on the road to good teams but they got killed by ole miss. But they have the best win at Texas.

Ole Miss thrashed UGA and South Carolina. Losing to UK at home is the worst loss by far.

Tennessee barely beat Bama, no other ranked wins. Both our losses were on the road, but one to an unranked team (not even a bowl team), so we have the 2nd worst loss.

They all have better wins than we do. Our loss is worse than everyone except ole miss.

Honestly we need 5 sec teams to get in or a 3 loss sec team (conf champ loser) to get knocked out. Both are reasonably possible I think. Byu should drop quite a bit.

Our argument shouldn't be that we deserve it over the other three 2 loss sec teams (though there is some argument to be made about head to head over Bama), it should be more that we deserve it over Miami, byu, Indiana (once they get stomped) or we deserve it over whichever 3 loss team loses to Texas in the champ game.

I don’t think it’s guaranteed Texas will make the SEC championship game. A&M can absolutely beat them.
