Recruiting Football Talk VIII

They didn't play like it against Georgia. The key to beating Georgia is pressuring Beck. We didn't pressure Beck. Our front 4 couldn't overpower their banged-up OL, and Banks didn't make adjustments to bring blitzes. Instead, we let Beck sit in the pocket and dominate us. Could the offense have played better? Absolutely. Nico played well, IMO, but his WRs let him down a few times, and there were a few play calls that made me scratch my head. But the biggest reason we lost was the defense failed to get to Beck.
I agree. Uga adjusted after the first 3 drives Tennessee didn’t. Uga passed to the perimeter mostly in the first quarter and beck was 3-10. They switched it up and attacked our seams and over the middle bcuz that’s the soft spot of our zone.

one bad game doesn’t suddenly make the defense bad

It does not. But it's concerning that Banks made no adjustments to their adjustments. And it's concerning he failed to scheme a way to pressure a QB that has shown he crumbles under pressure. This was an important game, and Banks clearly wasn't ready for it.

I 100% agree. It’s like he didn’t watch film and even crazier there was no adjustment at halftime.

Hey @Devo182 another Asheville question. Going next week for work again. Thinking about staying in Black Mountain. Think you said you worked there? Is it a good place to stay? Stuff open? Thinking about bringing my wife and kids this time for a few days.

Not even a blitz from Boo, which is bizarre considering he has been sent on a blitz since week 1.

They are ruled incomplete 100% of the time
I agree, and I believe it was an incomplete pass; but, it was close enough to call it complete, fumble, fumble recovery, then go to replay. That wasn't happening with that crew last night...that is, unless it was to see if a 300 pound DL was still a step on the field or not.

That I will agree with. They need to let plays like that go like the NFL has done. Then review and over turn

He’s pissed, and should be.

That's good and we've seen this before from Heupel but getting mad ain't fixing the problem. Danny White needs to do his job and make the conference explain why this continues to happen to the VOLS. He has plenty of evidence and he's for sure getting paid enough. If UT can turn the tables on the NCAA, they should be able to expose the corruption in the SEC. DW doesn't have a problem asking the fans for more money, he can at least publicly ask "why is it like this every year?".

*It can't get any worse

I’ve seen it happen to other teams and it won’t change till the whole conference comes together to complain in unison, simple as that

Heupel’s offense is most effective when it goes fast. Last night we went fast in 1st quarter after that we slowed down. This year and last year we have been slower than his first two years and his offense at UCF. I have two theories: he trusted Hooker more than Milton and Nico or he feels like refs so dislike our fast pace that they call more penalties on us. Could be some of both

It would be interesting if DW crashed a post-game press conference like that Big 12 AD did a few weeks ago. Was it Utah's AD after they played BYU? Crashed the post-game presser and called out the officiating. I could be alone, but I think that would be awesome to see DW do that.
