Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Oh everyone talked about how great the playoffs would be. How much easier it will be for us to get in. Parity is coming blah, blah, blah. This playoff system is an absolute joke. Along with pay to play, free agency and the dumb transfer portal rules, college football is becoming a joke.
Really? In any other system we had it’s over. No chance of getting in.
It definitely needs work but at least we still have a shot.

I think a lot of people on here are taking the CFP at face value. Use logic and reason to pick the best teams to play for a national title. It should be easy. It should be simple. It is very easy to get locked in that argument. Especially if you love the sport and want to talk about the things that actually matter.

Unfortunately, the committee does not care about results, they do not care about ranking the best teams.

They are putting a TV product together. The same way that you would build a mini-series or movie trilogy that would be aired nationally.

They are not beholden to what happens on the field. They are analyzing spreadsheets and reports that have laid out for them what the most successful series of games would be for them to maximize revenue today, and to help in future media negotiations. That is it.

They are working backwards to find ways to slot the most desirable teams in the most advantageous spots, to produce the biggest numbers. The CFP is a TV product. The rankings show is a TV product.

You can tell that they don't give a crap because they have a few mouth pieces out there that float their BS. As others have pointed out, Dinich seems to have an in to soft release the rankings every week. Auerbach is the least skillful at veiling that she is a mouthpiece, but may be one of the loudest.

Floating things like this out there:

Attempting to normalize "taking head to head out of it." That is insight into what the committee is putting in front of media members to permeate the CFP public.

The rest get caught up in an idea that was floated out there, that really means nothing. "Best vs Most Deserving." It's a load of crap. It means nothing. They made that argument up to have talking points for TV and keep the majority of fans busy arguing about hypotheticals and pointing to data and ideas that mean absolutely nothing to the committee.

This is a TV product.

They have their A-List programs that people will always tune in for. They have sexy teams that are lightning rods. They have a pool of others to choose from. They'll continue mathing out what will be best for the executives at the very top, and tell everyone else to figure it out. Like they always do.

We need to put a beating on Vandy 20+ points. Texas beat them by 3 and it’s considered one of there “key” wins🤔😡
I think our best hope for upsets are
1-gators beat Ole Miss-Saturday
2-USC beats Notre Dame next Saturday
Dobnail boot
Auburn -Kentucky -Vandy
Do us a solid this weekend😎
Interesting thing on OM v Gators… the sims are giving Florida a 21.9 percent chance of winning. I think Florida is actually a tough matchup for them.

They never should've trade Jrue. They miss his defense.
Some of the decisions these guys make are so questionable that it feels purposeful to piss fans off lol

Like how in the **** does Kyle Lowry, Lonzo Ball, and Ben Simmons still have a job? Someone would get more value out of Norris Cole, who’s like 38 playing overseas averaging a double double.

Yes, plus DK is playing for the best Franchise in NBA history. Yes I said it @TN-POSSUM better than those green goblins in Boston..
That's the worst part about DK..... playing with the Lakers

Still....Screenshot_20241120_103043_DuckDuckGo.jpg

18 > 17

(And don't forget.... the CELTICS have always been in BOSTON. LA is just an expansion team. 😏)

*funny story: yesterday, somehow my pocket deleted my gallery download folder. I was able to find them and restore them before they got permanently deleted. 2300 gifs, memes, and old family pictures were almost gone. I was so mad at my pocket. 😱

The internet doxxed his name, address, etc.

I hope he gets in trouble and has to give that money back.

Little prick said “thanks for the 20 bands” and flipped the live stream off.

All this mess with the CFP comes from unequal scheduling. Conferences are so big that schedules are not equal. Need to go back to smaller conferences where everyone plays everyone. Get back to regional games - maybe 8 conferences and conference champion gets in along with 8 at large teams. Set up a Group of 5 playoff too. G5 does not deserve a spot in current playoff set up and ND can kick rocks if they do not want to join a conference.

There's a round robin of head to head that makes head to head a pointless argument. Bama and Ole Miss beat UGA beat Tennessee beat Bama. The much more egregious issue is BYU and Boise being in over clearly better teams. Boise of all teams getting a freaking bye?! Those are the things people should be upset about. Not the impossible task of ranking 4 2-loss SEC teams.

If UT wins out convincingly .............UT gets in........

There will be some upsets.

Nothing to worry about.
I don't believe it is that simple. What are the scenarios? You think a one loss Indiana falls behind us? There are still a couple of games that could help those behind us make a jump. We don't have that. I'm very nervous about where they slotted us.
