Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Why not steep them and make a tea or decoction? Throw in a teabag of something tasty. Psilocybin is water soluble. No need to eat the shrooms.

Yep, tea and Kool-Aid are great options I mentioned early in one of my admittedly long posts. Slightly harder to determine dosage amount, though. Also, sometimes people are impatient and want to eat a handful immediately.

The ones that people grow from spore kits don't really have a bad taste, though.

Your analogy is beyond dumb. Elarbee is the OL coach that’s been responsible for Heupels offenses to set records here. We had the top offense in the nation in 2022. Guess what? Without great OL play, we don’t get that. Your views are shortsighted and not based in fact.
Ok Little Vol. Let's say you're right. Let's give credit to Ellarbee's line.

He recruited exactly 0 of those players.

He had a veteran QB, and a very good play caller. Who then should take bulk of blame for one of most penalized teams in Country, bastion of countless missed/open receivers, untimely sacks, trips to red zone with no/few points, amount of QB hurries/pressure, and flat out non existent push against Arkansas, Florida, OK, and Georgia.

If he takes credit, he gets the blame too.

Heck, Id be willing to give Georgia a pass had Ole Miss not played Matadore with them week prior.

Name one player Ellerbee has recruited, that has played any meaningful snaps? 1, just 1.

4 years man, 4.

It is possible, despite 11, 9, and likely 10 win seasons we could end up with 2 OL recruits.

2. Year 4.

I'm with you, it doesn't need to be perfect. But it absolutely has to be better. And right now that aint gonna happen.

I mean if we're counting JuCo, gotta give some credit to Elarbee for Jeremiah Crawford.

The problem right now with Glen imo is just that everywhere he's ever been 3 star talent was enough.

He's having trouble landing (and keeping) the higher rated guys in his tenure at UT.

Warren is TBD
Nichols left
Satterwhite is TBD
Nic Moore = not on campus yet
David Sanders = not on campus yet
Umarov is TBD
Brandon Anderson = not on campus yet
Max Anderson is TBD

That's all the 4 star and better he's recruited here.

When you don’t have a sophomore better than Dayne Davis and John Campbell, you’ve got either an evaluations / recruiting problem or a development problem. I’ll even throw Karic in there. If we had excellent starters, sure of course there wouldn’t be younger players better than them. The three I just mentioned are merely serviceable at best. If your evals are good and your coaching is good, a sophomore should be capable of at least splitting time.

Yes, OL is a developmental position, but where is the evidence we’re developing anyone? This isn’t the old days where only juniors and seniors are physically developed enough to play on the OL. Plenty of young offensive linemen making contributions out there these days.

Plenty of young OL starting and getting dominated by upperclassmen DL. And John Campbell is a beast when on the field.

All this shroom talk has made me realize y’all need weed in your life.

Whoever says shrooms over weed needs to go ahead and block me.

So, your argument is basically, "Yes, OL is a developmental position, but OL is not really a developmental position anymore"?

ETA: The NCAA investigation that was mentioned in the post you responded to wasn't lifted until this past season. So, the SO year of recruiting that you're complaining about was still happening under the cloud of pay-for-play sanction negative recruitment. Is it possible that you gave an excluded middle argument, in that you only allowed the options of evaluations/development? Or maybe you allowed that option under the vagueness of "recruiting" problems.

Maybe the recruiting problem was just that our recruiters were swimming against the currents, and this staff has been making some damn fine chicken salad when one considers the ingredients they've been working with.

I absolutely do NOT need weed in my life.

In fact, trying to decrease caffeine intake. Need to cut out beer. Neighbor came over whilst kids played yesterday. He had a Highlands Thunderstruck in hand.

Garage door opened, after that, gracias por los Modelos Especial.

Here's my excuse. There is something encoded in the Dad DNA about having a cold beer in hand.

Smoked only one time in college and never again. My own fault the experience was so bad. I was a stupid kid. Had my own hookah and smoked shisha plenty if times before, so I filled up the whole bowel and just started smoking it like you would flavored tobacco. Just completely ignorant. Thirty or so hits and twenty minutes later the worst night if my life began when the TV slowly rotated to the ceiling. All downhill from there.
