Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I don't recall Phil ever coming to practice to speak to us. Or Johnny before him. John Ward came, though.

The summation of Dickey's speech was how unneeded the band actually was as long as we were winning. I guess he wasn't as big on the overall experience. Imagine a game without all the pageantry and Rocky Top. It just wouldn't be the same. It's part of the magic that is Gameday.
Our son was in P.O.T.S. Band 1998-2002. Coach Fulmer came to many Saturday morning practices & thanked the Band. We were there to share it. Incidentally, this 1978 photo shows Dr. Julian with the Bryants honoring their composition "Rocky Top".

thats rough. regardless of fame, if kids are involved wives should be taken care of (provided she didnt murder someone with a meat cleaver. or deflate footballs).

That said. i'm glad Peyton is the Goat, and not a complete and total doucher.
She’s worth an estimated $400 million on her own. She’s not hurting for any of Tommy Boy’s money

The reason it's funny was the wife was Gisele, who probably worth more than Brady. Now why would she need his assets, I'm positive he has got his kids financial set up for life.

Happy Wednesday

August 14, 2024: There are things you do and think that are no longer relevant to who you have become. Set yourself to embrace where you are instead of where you have been. You are being renewed day by day to become the best version of yourself possible. Put the past behind you and step into the new you. Isaiah 43:18-19 Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

What does that even mean?

Pretty sure this would fall under advertising expense for Pilot. They're spending actual money, like any other business expense.

Maybe I'm just missing yer point.
I think what’s he’s saying is that at the end of the year it is a tax write off. Expenses such as this (advertising) are usually seen as such.

Maybe its an indictment on how good of a coach he is. Turning a walk on onto a starter. That sounds like a good coaching job to me.

Is Lincoln Riley a bad scout of talent and coach when he had walk on Baker Mayfield starting for him?
Exception not the rule.
Baker was a 3 star out of high school and will brooks nothing.

According to Sportico, the Dallas Cowboys have become the first sports franchise valued above $10 billion. In its annual valuations of NFL teams, Sportico lists the Cowboys at $10.32 billion, followed by the Los Angeles Rams at $7.79 billion. Rounding out the top 5 are NY Giants ($7.65B) NE Patriots ($7.31B) and SF 49ers ($6.86B).

You would think that it would be tied to winning. But not so much… 😳

Reactions: Orange.
Saban also played walk on DBs so everyone should stop freaking out about Will Brooks.
Can’t remember the players name, but when the Vols won the Sugar Bowl against Miami, they had a walkon CB who led the SEC in interceptions. The RB who torched the canes was also a walkon.

Scholarship status doesn’t always mean that they are the best players on the team…

Worley with a decent supportive cast and another year with a good QB coach/Kiffin would have been potent.
Worley was signed by Dooley. If Kiffin stays, we don’t get Worley. His arm strength was subpar and his release was slow. Kind of like Harrison Bailey.

Chris White but I think he played safety… had 9 ints that year.

I dont know, but wouldnt safety - the QB of the backfield. Require someone to know ins and outs of the playbook? Ergo, someone who take the 2D and apply it, spatially would excel in that spot?

Now, to me when time comes where more athletic dudes catch up. You gotta play them too. It cant be Brooks playing 90 minutes or whateves.
