Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I'm really excited about P. Lewis. He could be around 220lbs by next season and maintain his speed. Cam Seldon, Peyton Lewis, and DeSean Bishop appear to be the 3 headed monster of the future. That's 2 bigger backs with speed, and the upgraded version of Jabari Small.
You might end up being correct, but what current evidence is there that Bishop is an upgraded version of Jabari Small? The guy ran for 2100+ yds and 24 TDs in his career while working a pretty even split of carries. Additionally, he averaged over 5 ypc. More than Arian Foster, Jalen Hurd, Jay Graham, Montario Hardesty, and Travis Stephens, among others.

It seems wildly assumptive that a borderline walk-on RB who has yet to take a snap is an automatic upgrade.

While I do think what you're saying is accurate and true. athleticism CAN make up for some deficiencies.

Recruiting has been above average in last couple cycles. One reason this situation is frustrating is we fire the starting 4, then, replace with status quo - as perceived.

Other teams, imo, that recruit at higher level don't fear playing talented freshmen. To me, that's GA, FL (historically at DB), LSU, Bama.

It may be to get to that elite, elite level we will need to show consistent W/L, BUT within that give our talented guys PT. I'm not saying starting. I'm saying develop a healthy rotation like we do at LB and DT.

I see AP's point. It isn't logical to recruit these guys and have your starters play 85 minutes. Worse, play those guys 85 minutes and STILL give up a lot of points.

There has to be a nice middle ground. I believe Martinez is a decent coach. However, like other older coaches - may need a DB recruiting 'coordinator', officially.

You gotta be able to develop. But you gotta be athletic. And do both, well. Right now I give us a B in both.
Alabama and Georgia both play the best players at the time. Alabama has played a walk on. corner and. white walk on safety during their run…. Kirby Smart has played a walk on corner. I don’t want players playing unless they are ready. The secondary is the hardest position on defense to play, imo. It’s impossible to know who should be on the field unless we are at practice… I do feel that Boo will start very soon.

Good thing we ranked 22nd in the country in defensive ppg last season then.

If we’re winning games, I don’t understand why anyone cares if we play a freshman who is perceived to be talented or a 25 year old 6th year senior.

AP is just a guy with an opinion. He should talks less imo
He doesn’t get to see much of the practice…. does he?

Boy, I hope Bishop is an upgrade to Small but I don't think so.

It isnt just about Boo. To me its just rotating younger guys in. Helps in development.

Anyway, necks.

Prepared to get flamed for this. You know Heupel loves Martinez. Therefore, that automatically makes him immune from all criticism. You know because Heupel is the head coach, he can never be wrong about anything.
I say we should run a 4 TE set every play. Who do you trust more?

Yep
Can’t recruit dbs that can beat out will brooks
He might be a solid tackler and understand the defense but he’s a liability
Piss poor recruiting by CWM imo
He’s the weakest link in the coaching staff
Flame away CWM nut huggers

You’ve seen him in camp to know he’s a liability?

CWM isn’t in charge of safeties. Banks is.

thats rough. regardless of fame, if kids are involved wives should be taken care of (provided she didnt murder someone with a meat cleaver. or deflate footballs).

That said. i'm glad Peyton is the Goat, and not a complete and total doucher.
The woman has her own money...and Tom's kids will be taken care of just fine. She shouldn't be entitled to half of his stuff.
