Recruiting Football Talk VIII

He was immediately suspended. The accuser recanted all her allegations weeks ago and he’s been kept away from the program until the investigation was finalized—yesterday, I think.
In that case, he should've been kicked off permanently for making the program look even more like dog 💩 than it already does.

Huh? Read my post and the one I quoted again. I was replying to a comment saying that Kirby is bringing the kid back because he is more worried about playing GT than he was about UT or Ole Miss.

My point was that he probably is bringing back the kid now to get him ready to contribute in post season play and was confident the last few weeks that UGA would make the playoffs (as he should have been with only having one loss prior to OM)....not the ridiculous notion that he is bringing him back because of being worried about GT over UT and OM.
I understood. I just think it’s unlikely that Kirby would think beating OM and UT is somehow a given.

If Kirby was in control like on here seem to think and if he was willing to cut corners like people seem to think he would, Young would have been playing a long time ago. Look how bad our WRs were against OM and how pass heavy our plan was against Tennessee, and how banged up we’ve been at WR.

There is 10000000% anti-Tennessee bias

There is no POSSIBLE way a Bama, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Ohio St, Michigan, USC, Oregon etc running back that has 1300+ yards and TWENTY TWO touchdowns while having rested in FOUR second halfs would EVER be left out.

Hope Samspon runs for 400 Saturday.
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity. They just took the top three rushers. That is all it is. It sucks, but most people don't care about the Doak Walker award.

I was going to say, you can tell how they lazily sorted by rushing yards and just picked the top 3. They have absolutely no idea who anyone is in college football, they just go to ESPN.com the day before voting and pick the top 3 rushers.

Doak Walker Award (Sampson) is now as big a joke as the Heisman (Manning)

wow. what a joke.......i mean i just don't get that at all.....the infamous "they" does hate us. lol.

what i get out of these awards every year nowadays is that the folks in charge of these things don't watch football and they know nothing about it.....

if Sampson can't get a look here, and nothing more than a sniff on the heisman list, considering the company he's keeping in the history of SEC running backs that have won all these awards before, then i don't know that there's a path for us to see one of ours get one of these. i'm still mystified that Hyatt won the Balitnikoff a couple of years ago over Harrison jr.

oh well..............beat Vandy. bring us the playoffs. GBO 🍊

That's all it is. There is no conspiracy. Just stupidity.

not to mention that he's done it in a largely one dimensional offense........................................the guy is the offense for all intents and purposes. which should make it that much more impressive.....i would think anyway.

I hope he runs for a 200 yrds and 3 TDs in the first half.....................and rests the second half because of a blow-out win ☺️

We haven't recruiting badly but it certainly could have been better and seems to be getting better. Portal pickups have been hit or miss but OL is one of the hardest positions to project as evidenced by how many lower ranked guys contribute across the country and higher ranked guys don't do squat.

OL recruits tend to be either "can't miss" prospects that are very highly rated 4 and 5 stars and the rest are a coin flip on how they develop, especially in the SEC with so many future NFL defensive players they go up against..
Are we looking at the Harvard center in the portal or is he considered to be at too low a level of competition to compete in the SEC?

I do think I remember seeing the other day someone post that we have been potentially looking at one of their OTs to enter the portal

Hopefully their coach being fired makes that become true

I would like more depth at OT but it sounds like the staff loves Bennett Warren and he already has the size....probably needs to continue to drop a bit of weight while gaining strength and mobility but he should be able to do so with all the extra playoff practices and in the off-season. Reports are the his footwork and hand usage is top notch, which is harder to develop than it is to improve your body if you're dedicated. Also Ginther is liked by the staff but probably needs more time to develop and won't contribute much next year.

That brings up a point that playoff teams will have a significant development advantage over non-playoff teams. A rule change is needed to address that issue or we will have the same teams in every year just like we typically had a rotation of the same 5 or 6 teams under the 4 team playoff system.

It isn't him as a position coach necessarily it his him as a recruiter.
It’s hard to know from the outside looking in. We don’t know how Heupel values OL versus other positions. The NIL pie is only so big and Heupel might value it a little less than some other schools. He might very well be the weakest link in recruiting but hard to know for sure. OL Is also one of the hardest positions to project to the next level. I just know Heupel is super competitive and if he thinks Ellerbee is a weak link he will make a change.
