My only issue with 12 teams playoff is some teams I hate are going to get in!

Number 1wish, Alabama to miss out. But when they miss out, it probably means Clemson or God forbid even Beamer could slip in. I know this will not be popular but I would rather OM make it than those 2.

I guess I’m hoping Auburn beats bama. SMU and Miami both get in from ACC. Even though Big Ten is overrated I just want the 3 SEC teams in now are the only ones to get in.

What are you guys feeling about this?

Who's talking about rewarding anyone? They just aren't getting dropped.

And they won't. Assuming Oregon, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, and Miami all win this weekend, they aren't getting dropped behind us for losing their conference title game. The committee won't do it.

In the next couple of years, they will just do away with that game. Declare a regular season conference champ and move on.

The only way to incentivise teams to actually want to play that game is to make it to where there is something to gain and nothing to lose. There is already enough to lose. It's an extra game of risking injuries and wear and tear. There is no way they also put your ranking at stake. But as evidenced by this thread, no one else will accept the fact that they can watch a team lose a game and not see their ranking change at all.

I started it hanging around my dad's business as 12 year old (+ or -). Only way I could drink it was to fill it with cream and sugar. I then over time came to appreciate the flavors of the coffee. I started drinking it black when I would have something sweet. It really enhanced the flavor of the cake, pie, cookie etc... Now I always drink it black. It's kind of like bourbon, I would much rather sip on a straight bourbon than mix it with a soda of some sort.

Translation: We really don't have set parameters but ESPN likes ratings and storylines and we're tired of the SEC but we need Alabama and the dude from Michigan really likes the Big Ten and when people question our decisions we make up answers on the spot despite the fact that the answer we gave falls apart if any media hack bothers to look deeper.

Alabama and Ole Miss are ahead of them and both own the head to head match-up against South Carolina...with Ole Miss winning convincingly. I don’t see a scenario where they make the CFP outside of several upsets ahead of them this weekend.

I don't think they value the conference championship game loser as much as you think they do. The commissioner was asked directly about it a few weeks back and he would not say definitively that they would honor the losers of that game with a playoff spot.

He got banged up against LSU (and maybe previously). I watched the 4th quarter of that game.

USCe has 2 HUGE problems...they lost to Ole Miss and Bama....while they get a solid A for effort for what they did in Tuscaloosa, they got their doors blown off in their own chicken coop by Ole Miss. that LSU loss, while controversial, is still a loss and the shine has worn off LSU a little bit since then. i get it, USCe is hot, they have won 5 straight, and i agree with anybody that says "i'm not sure i'd want to play USCe right now".

but that's simply not enough to say you've "earned" a spot to play for a national title, imo....when there are results on the field against others in your peer group that show they beat you.

we were all bishing about Bama being ranked ahead of us, despite having the same record, and having the H2H.....not sure why it wouldn't matter now, or shouldn't?

the committee has been wishy washy on h2h week to week....so who knows what they do.....but at some point, your entire season's body of work has to be accounted for....and so does that of the opponents you played....

OU beats LSU...FL beasts FSU...both of those teams are 7-5, and both of those wins, while not "ranked" wins today, probably puts both of those teams at, or near, the top 30-ish in the country.....far from what we we were all led to believe a couple of weeks ago when those were apparently "who gives a damn" games.

so yes, if i'm looking at USCe vs. Bama and/or Ole Miss.......................hard for me to put them above the two teams that beat 'em. so sorry, USCe, you had your chance. have fun in Shreveport. they would need 1 or both to lose to get pushed up a rung over them. but if they all finish 9-3, i just can't justify a win over a mid Clemson team as the separator between the 3, given the what the results on the field already say about the 3.

H2H didn't matter when Bama stayed ahead of us right up until OU blew them out...

I don't like Beamer or South Carolina, but they've got the best 3 losses of any 3 loss team in the discussion.

Losing by 3 to 16th ranked LSU
Blown out by 12th ranked Ole Miss
Losing by 2 at 7th ranked Bama
