Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Big difference between a 4 team playoff and 12. Georgia was still the second ranked SEC team and number 5 overall. I would expect similar results this year and let’s face it if Tennessee was in the SEC championship game and got beat we would lose our minds if we dropped below teams sitting on the couch resting as we should. Actually the committee has been reasonably fair to us so far this year.
I’m worried that the committee will just view the SECCG has a playoff game. That’s how I viewed it for UGA last year.

From a matchup standpoint, the SECCG will be as hard as a final four playoff game every year. It will be a problem for the SEC if it turns into an elimination game.

Only thing that I think is a bit dumb...I completely get the top 12... but the thing that's a bit confusing to me is the committee has stated from the beginning "only the conference champion is guaranteed in"

Yet Ohio State, SMU, and Georgia are all being projected to lose their title game and still get in... and even with a 2nd loss Ohio State would be a 5 seed? and a 3 loss Georgia will be the 8?

We need more chaos outside of us this weekend!

Michigan beats Ohio State
USC beats Notre Dame
Maryland upsets Penn State
Syracuse beats Miami

You can't punish a team for losing an extra game.

I feel that. I drank black coffee daily for a few years. Took a few sips one morning and realized my fragile sense of masculinity was resting on drinking a beverage that I can't even pretend tastes good unlike some other liars. Now I pour whatever the hell I want in it bc I am a grown man that can give coffee snobs a swirly. Mostly whatever sugar-free creamer is on sale when I'm at the grocery store.
Sounds like you're trying to convincing yourself.

don’t give a rats rear if i'm a alpha, beta, zeta... perception is fleeting. My own health is my concern, aint no one gonna do it for you. Slap whatever label needed.

You're punishing every other team that played the entire regular season and had a better record though...

Leaving them in the top 12 = fine, but Big 12 would have their projected conference champ (with 2 losses only) as a 12 seed even after winning their extra game... so aren't they being punished?

I mean if we're counting JuCo, gotta give some credit to Elarbee for Jeremiah Crawford.

The problem right now with Glen imo is just that everywhere he's ever been 3 star talent was enough.

He's having trouble landing (and keeping) the higher rated guys in his tenure at UT.

Warren is TBD
Nichols left
Satterwhite is TBD
Nic Moore = not on campus yet
David Sanders = not on campus yet
Umarov is TBD
Brandon Anderson = not on campus yet
Max Anderson is TBD

That's all the 4 star and better he's recruited here.
It has nothing at all to do with the amount of hustle that the OL has to be able to do to make this offense move as fast as CJH wants it to. Many of the highly rated OL prospects have no desire to play in this uptempo jet fueled offensive scheme. Just my opinion.

But the selling point would be that if you can succeed in this system then any other offensive scheme will be easy in comparison. Hard to sell a 17 year old on the status of their cardiac condition will significantly prolong their lives and careers.

If Tennessee can regain their offensive speed during the playoffs against non SEC teams, then the recruits will pay more attention to this sell point.

Plus it has to be extremely tricky to weed out the mercenaries from the recruits that really want to play for Tennessee. Some of Tennessee’s best Olinemen have been homegrown Tennesseans. Start there and then get the others. Those big country OL are still out there. Just need to find them.

You're not though, if they had a better record would they not be in their conf champ game?

They are seeding them as they are RIGHT NOW.

The seeding will change over the next 2 weeks

I can't stand anything in my coffee. I love the taste of coffee by itself.

You're not this dense man.

The only reason Texas and Georgia will be in Atlanta is because in the tie breaker it's based on winning % of opponents. And because of Conference Record being the only thing that matters if A&M beats Texas they'd go to Atlanta even with us having a better record.

I’ve been to LA once. In the same day I experienced traffic that flowed at a steady 40 mph, and also was stuck in bumper to bumper for 3.5 hours trying to get back from Santa Monica (17 miles, google maps says it’s a 21 minute drive lol).
I too have visited there once for a few days to visit a friend who lived in Santa Monica but worked for a large bank in downtown Los Angeles. He had to work a couple of the days we were there so we would take him to work and then use his car to see the sites. Traffic was an utter nightmare going back and forth.

That’s impossible to happen there will 100% be movement after conference champ week. Just like if BSU loses to UNLV they’ll be completely dropped from rankings.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's going to be hard to sell a 3 loss non conference champ. Especially with the potential to have a few 2 loss teams on the outside looking in.

Don't think an Ole Miss or Bama would jump Georgia for losing in Atlanta...but I could see Clemson getting into the top 12 because of it if they beat South Carolina.

The important thing is we're in the best spot we can be. Win our game and we're in, the rest is out of our control

Full disclosure, I’d be a terrible football coach, nothing but go routes and blitzes…never beat my kid at Madden. Having said that, I’d keep sending blind side corner blitzes on Saturday until one of them gets home. I want to see vandy linemen pulling sod from Pavia’s helmet during every huddle. Send the house….every time….play through the third whistle. No mercy. They have one player on their team. Just put out his fire and then pick your score.

I can guarantee one thing……

UT will not play Georgia in the CFP in round 1. Absolutely 0% chance. No matter what happens next weekend.
Almost like they had Indiana v PSU and TN v UGA on purpose knowing they'll HAVE to move teams after next week and championship week. Now they can be moved without worrying about rematches and intraconference matchups.
