Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Aubie says "I'd rather play Vandy again." Really? A shot at our win, and people are supposed to be dumb enough to forget that Vandy beat Bama? Why not Vandy saying "I'd rather play Bama again"? Where are we, anyway? You know one of only three conference teams in playoffs.

"I'd rather play Bama again" -- Vandy
Hell Vandy only lost to Texas by 3 as well. Played them alot better than A&M did on their own field.

Nico's one of the hottest QBs in the country right now. I've been working on a little college football analytics side-business and he's gone from #40 nationally to #15 in the last few weeks. His help (OL and WR) have been meh, his SOS has been crazy, but he's been electric and getting better every week.

Nico’s 2024 stats are VERY similar to Joe Milton’s 2023 totals, but Nico has already led us to +2 wins in comparison. Ideally he’s just now finding his footing and will continue to improve from here. In the last few games he looked more comfortable.

I'll be fine with what they do, so long as it benefits us.

Sometimes it's not about TV and gambling though. They didn't want Cinci or TCU in the playoffs before.

OSU in Neyland is better than the reverse of that. OSU doesn't even care about playing for a title right now, why would TV want to go to the shoe?
Indiana is this year's TCU. They good for ratings for one game because of the David v Goliath thing particularly when there are other games. What messed it up was that Michigan didn't have any film on them and TCU actually won, which made for a terrible championship game viewership wise. Finals need two huge, passionate fan bases.
As long as Indiana doesn't win the networks will be fine with them. I'm sure they will have a gauntlet to get to the finals
OSU getting skull drug by UM was a shocker and now they will be replaced by the next B1G golden child in line, Notre Dame. I know Notre Dame is not actually in the B1G but they are a de facto member as far as viewer demographics.

I hadn't compared their stats until you said this. They are shockingly close. Of course, we're comparing a redshirt freshman to a 6th year Senior so it seems very likely Nico will get better.

Milton's 2nd year on a college campus he threw the ball 5 times.

This. Those are the only two on that list I feel confident in. Nimrod has potential but hasn't delivered at all yet.
Remember when a lot of VN said Tillman was a useless waste of a scholarship?...and when they said Hyatt was a major disappointing bust?

I remember..😏

Staley? Heard really good things about him this time last year.
Just because he hasn’t played this year doesn’t mean it’s not true.

A lot of good upper class ahead of him.

Webb and Nimrod been here a while.
Haven’t really seen any reason to think they’re going to be much more than they have been.

I don’t think Norvell walks away from his huge FSU salary and buyout

Nobody else is giving that guy $10M a year
There are some ways to work that out, but all parties have to be willing. When Josh Pastner left Memphis for GTech, Memphis paid him part of his buyout to encourage him to take the new job.

I suppose Arkansas has decided they spent too much money on Cal and the basketball team to pay a buyout and hire an expensive new coach.

Crazy that they are just going to let that program stay mediocre as the SEC gets tougher every year.

UT - 30
Vanderbilt - 10

Haskel Stanback ran for 143 yrds and 3 TDs in the Vols 30-10 victory over the host Commodores. Stanback broke Hank Lauricella’s single season rushing record with 890 yrds. Condredge Holloway had another stellar game passing and rushing for a touchdown.

Not bad passing numbers for a running back. Milroe has never been a qb. Alabama should've run the wing-t.
65.8 completion on the year.
Numbers are almost identical to last year except TD’s down and Interceptions up drastically.

Definitely not looking like he fits DeBoers offense.
I hate Bama...but this is dumb.
