Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Not a fan of losing any OL to the portal... but a 2nd year player like Lang that was a 3 star who actually gained weight while here isn't one we'll probably miss.

Wish him all the best, but him and Reddick both being so overweight is part of why they're not playing.

What really blows for players on playoff teams is having to skip out on what you worked hard for in order to make a good decision for yourself. Unintended casualty of the new portal deadlines.
at some point, there really needs to be something done about the CFB calendar. early signing day, conf championship games, portal, playoffs, bowls.....all happening at the same time.....plus just regular joe crap going on around the holidays etc...

that's a lot of moving parts, in a very condensed window.

If you could draw up the ideal path to a national championship what would it be?

NOT the easiest. I mean would which would exact the most vengeance and garner jubilee. One that leaves you fat and happy, evil grin, picking flesh out of your teeth with a whittled bone as you bask in the wake of destruction behind you.

I’m wondering if your three games would be like mine
OSU, PSU and then Georgia in order to exact revenge.

They have the foresight to adjust the transfer portal for programs firing their HC but have no provisions for this contingency. 🤨

why should Ohio be ranked higher than us? They have one loss against a good team and one against a 6-6 team. Same as us.

It’s just habit and pre-judging things that keeps us from jumping them. They were embarrassed at home. They started at the top (without merit) (past seasons don’t count). and OSU always drops less than others when they lose. They should drop however many positions we dropped when we lost to 6-6. or one position more since they were at home.

We deserve to host. Watch Ohio’s game last week and ours and tell me we’re not better. They’re not.
They should be punished for their loss to Michigan like we were for losing to USCjr in 2022.

How many times a month do you eat chili in the fall/winter?

Do you make/eat deer chili?

Have you ever been to the "Chili Cook-Off" in Gatlinburg?

@TN-POSSUM have you ever tried chili other than your favorite, Skyline Chili?

No

Skyline chili can git!

Honestly, Miami should be the at large that gets in.

Lost by 5 at Georgia Tech (7-5 and was one bad call away from beating Georgia)
Lost by 4 at Syracuse (9-3)

I'd put them in over SMU and any 3 loss SEC team personally.
Eh.. Agree, except if SMU should lose too Clemson... That's an 11 win team that beat out Miami for the opportunity to play in Charlotte. If SMU gets bounced for Miami...I think that's a bad precedent.

If SMU wins.. Then I agree. I'd put a10 win Miami in over a 3 loss sec team, even Bama.

Deer chili is the best version of chili. Also, if chili doesn't have beans, it isn't chili, it's flavored meat.
No
1 time, because my wife wanted to try it. Was in a drive thru, when it entered the car I told my wife I would be disgusted. I tried to take 1 bite spit it out and threw the rest away. Worst thing I have ever eaten.

Amazing how well they can play when they are healthy. The o-line has been better and better each week. It is now in the asset column and not in the liability.
I'm not gonna disagree entirely, except to say the false starts and untimely holding penalties have be directly attributed to killing multiple drives this season. So if for no other reason, that would be enough for me to question "asset" as the correct adjective.

I'm not as down on the o line as some have been this season... But the penalties have been a problem.

I didn't realize this but on the long throw to Thorton for the TD, Nico had Mathews wide the heck open at the top. Only a two man route against 4 DBs and the two DBs on that side both came crashing in for whatever reason. Nico never looked at him.

Anyone else notice this?

He also missed squirrel early for 6 up the middle, but we ended up scoring on that drive too.

I had someone tell me over Thanksgiving that I was wrong for wishing losses for the rest of the SEC. I laughed and said my regret is that every other SEC team can't go winless through the year. OF course he is a Bama football fan and a Kentucky basketball fan.
That dude is gross.

I just read that ESPN thinks we should be ranked lower than OSU. I agree, we got beat by USCjr in 2022, and even though we had beaten Bama and LSU (at home) they put both of them above us? Am I remember this correctly?

They crashed for run support. Field position and formation would lend itself to running it there.. Play action got em. Beautiful.
