Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I was really scared last year at one point because I thought the play calling was worse because Alex Golesh left and the offense seemed slow as molasses compared to ‘22.

Then, I realized at some point in the season that it wasn’t the play calling; it was just Joe. Hendon ran a lot of similar plays (not entirely—the offense last year was definitely tuned for Joe), but in his case, he was able to make his reads properly and quickly. If you can’t do that as a Heupel QB, you are a dead man walking. This offense is predicated on quick reads, and Joe not only did it slower, but he also made the wrong reads more often.

It also didn’t help Joe when he lost his veteran center who knew the offense better than he did, and our WRs just seemed very uninspired last year in general.

I think we will have a top 10 offense this year, and people will realize that we won 9 games last year with a QB who was incapable of running this offense. That is going to really rattle some other teams and our doubters.
People spouting the Golesh vs Halzle thing need to explain away the Milton production in 2021 before HH seized the job…if it was simply playcalling.

I've been to Emporium, PA, but I guess I missed the statue to "Fatty."

As for the nickname, to be a baseball player named Hackett sounds worse than being called Fatty.

What field position did he play---'cause surely there was no DH in 1908, back before there were any Bolsheviks to create such a position.

It’s Heup’s system….. Milton couldn’t run the offense as efficiently.I agree that we should be really good this season.

CF. They say you could feel the ground shake all the way to Cincinnati when he ran after a fly ball.

Heck I'll take a solely diarrhea stomach bug any day.
Oh no you wouldn't. After trip #10 or so, it's straight fire. It burns like you wouldn't believe. The human bottom was not designed for double digit dumps in a day. I'd take vomiting any day. At least you feel slightly better after.

That quality of alliteration--in a post on diarrhea--cannot pass [sic] unacknowledged.
