Recruiting Football Talk VIII

But it’s ok for OSU to lose AT HOME against 7-5 Michigan in a noon game as 21 point favorites??!!! Screw this committee and their fake takes.
Yeah, the narrative was established immediately after the games last night. We stay at 9 going to Columbus. Penn State barely drops and Alabama is out.

Sankey will pitch a fit, but we won’t see anything of it until the restructuring in two years. They will have to do something about putting people like Warde Manuel in charge.

This is what I think will happen:

1. Oregon
2. Notre Dame
3. Georgia
4. Texas
5. Ohio State
6. Penn State
7. Tennessee
8. Indiana
9. Boise State
10. SMU

5-12 Notre Dame hosts Clemson -> W v ASU
6-11 Texas hosts SMU -> W v Boise
7-10 Ohio State hosts Indiana -> W v Georgia
8-9 Penn State hosts Tennessee -> W v Oregon

I could also see a scenario where they drop Texas to 6 below OSU and PSU and they host us. I doubt they'll move us from 7. Otherwise, I could see them keeping SMU in front of Indiana to prevent a rematch, sending Indiana to Austin and SMU to Columbus.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think ND can get a bye since they’re not conference champs.

People with a financial incentive to pick certain teams should not be on the committee, and they especially shouldn't be chairing the committee. You won't convince me that the Big 10 getting the favorable seedings has nothing to do with a sitting Big 10 AD chairing the committee. He has a financial incentive to make sure his conference does well.

Haven’t heard it discussed. Just what is the financial incentive? How much does each team get for being in the CFP and how much of that is split with other conference schools?

You really think Bama is in and SMU is out?
If there is any fairness in the process you can’t put Bama in over SMU. Would be borderline criminal but I will have to see them do it before I believe it. Bama bias is real and the committee is scared to death of Sankey and the BIG. I think they have the best politicians in the world word smithing BS all night long selling us on why they put Bama in over SMU. I hope I am wrong and I hate the whole state of Alabama.

I wanted to post this without reading ahead. If the committee is serious about conference championship games and not punishing the loser here is what the ranking should look like. imho
My rankings would also stop the ”gaming the system” for the 5 spot.
1-Oregon
2- UGA
3- Boise St
4- Clemson
5-ASU
6-Notre Dame
7- OSU
8-Tennessee
9-Indiana
10-Texas
11-PSU
12-SMU
Conference champs would get the first 5 spots, losers would drop to the bottom and be ranked by previous weeks rankings. Just my 2 cents

Oregon, UGA, ASU, Clemson all bye

5. ND vs 12. Boise
6. Penn St vs 11. Tenn
7. Indiana vs 10. SMU
8. Texas vs 9. OSU
Indiana can't jump us or Ohio State as none of those teams played. Warde Manuel was clear about this. SMU lost, they won't jump us. No clue how you think the committee will move us from 7th (9-seed) on the cusp of hosting to the last team in lol
