My final prediction is Tennessee plays on the road in Happy Valley against Penn State. Frustrating that we won’t get a home game. Texas’ resume is being lifted up strictly by the logo on the helmet. Really, we should be hosting Texas in Knoxville as the 8/9 matchup but no way the Committee drops Texas that far after losing in OT.

In the preseason, we all assumed that 10-2 would be enough to get us in and in position to host. It’ll be disappointing because I really wanted to see Neyland with a playoff atmosphere.

But I’m happy that we’re in the playoff in the inaugural year, and we’ll be hosting one of these days.

Penn State loses by one score and drops all the way to 9, while SMU loses by one score to a worse team and stays in? I don't think so.

While I don’t think they’ll drop that far, they wouldn’t be dropping “all the way to 9”. They’d drop from 3 to 7, so just 4 spots, but they’d get the 9-seed because of the dumb auto bye rule for teams jumping them.

None of that actually matters

To get the CFP expansion across the finish line, deals had to be made to make sure certain teams and conferences would always be taken care of.

That's why us being home/away is not decided by what happened on the field, vs others in similar consideration

There is a giant pot of money that is getting bigger, and the people that built the product that is generating this huge pot will take care of each other to ensure continued profit.

But the arguments they made to keep OSU ahead of us will not be used to make our home game a reality.

I think you could provide more help with Penn St TE than just throwing a LB on him. UGA doesn't have star WRs but they are bigger threats than Penn St WRs.

For OSU I'm just worried about their number of weapons. I think people's opinions of them are lower than they should be because Day coached that game trying to prove a point instead of to win.

Undefeated Florida came to Knoxville as the highest scoring team in the south. Media experts picked the Gators to win by 3 touchdowns, but Neyland had other plans. The Vols Defense held Florida to 12 pts (25 below their avg). Buddy Hackman scored on a 35 yrd intercepted lateral to give the Vols a 13-6 lead. Florida would score and go for two, but Bobby Dodd knocked down the pass attempt to preserve the 13-12 victory.

I wanted to post this without reading ahead. If the committee is serious about conference championship games and not punishing the loser here is what the ranking should look like. imho
My rankings would also stop the ”gaming the system” for the 5 spot.
1-Oregon
2- UGA
3- Boise St
4- Clemson
5-ASU
6-Notre Dame
7- OSU
8-Tennessee
9-Indiana
10-Texas
11-PSU
12-SMU
Conference champs would get the first 5 spots, losers would drop to the bottom and be ranked by previous weeks rankings. Just my 2 cents

They threw the ball 33 times vs Michigan, the 2nd most attempts all season (vs Oregon 35x). Howard still only went for 175 yards, 1 TD and 2 INT. I think everybody’s opinion of them is spot on. Tons of weapons, limited at QB.
