Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Are they really this chapped over a loss to a rival with a playoff on the line?
Yes they have a lot of fans that are completely apathetic.

Lot of "who cares, we lost to Michigan", "who cares, we'll just lose to Oregon", "who cares, Day will still be our coach"

People trying their best to pull out of the doldrums. But it does illustrate that it is a real conversation in their fanbase:

I understand the reaction and comments after the SCUM game by us fans. I was at the game and disgusted like the rest of you in the result. But to hear fans say they aren’t gonna attend the home playoff game or show up in orange to cheer for Tennessee to get Day fired or just to show to boo the Bucks…come on and be real! What does that prove? You may not be happy with Day as our coach moving forward, but he’s still our coach for this game and this is STILL our team! Let’s support them for this playoff and let what happens afterward happen. How are recruits and transfer portal players gonna view this as a potential place to play if the fans turn on the team during a playoff run potentially? If the Day haters are afraid if we in a natty, Day saves his job, so be it! Let’s not make the coaching situation take anything away from potential team success! No matter what, I’ll be there supporting our team to win the game!!

GO BUCKS!!

Vibes are very low. If we come out and punch them in the mouth, and/or force a stop in short yardage, they will immediately turn on Day and thus the team

Notes from Day presser about game:

* Day said Ohio State needs to flush out the Michigan loss from their systems and "move on" to the CFP. Day said his players are eager to face Tennessee under the lights at the Horseshoe. "They want to play. They want to get back on the field. They want to win," he said.

* Day on OL health mentioned that "right now Zen Michalski is not available." He mentioned Luke Montgomery and Josh Padilla will be in competition to play in postseason.

* Day said Donovan Jackson will "probably" remain at tackle for the CFB Playoff game but left the door open for someone to rise up at tackle during practice.

* The coach was asked about players who are headed into the transfer portal and said those would be dealt with on an individual basis as to their possible participation in the playoff.

* Regarding what lies ahead in the playoff, Day said, "It's more of an NFL mentality" now. As far as coming off loss to Michigan, "It's all about moving forward."

* On possibly playing Oregon – "Oh, geez, we have to win the first game first. You've got win this game. That will be our focus to make sure we win this game."

* Day on what stands out about Tennessee (via ESPN's College Football Playoff selection show): "They're a good team," he said. "This is a very complementary team. We got our work cut out for us. ... We know what the formula needs to be to win this game."

He notes their defensive front is very good: "It will be a great challenge for our guys."

* Day said Tennessee's offense tries to put stress on defense by stretching you out and with tempo.

* Day on his message to the team entering the College Football Playoff: "There's been twists and turns, there's been ups and downs, but here we are," he said. "When you think about the opportunity that our team has to go do something like this, this would be an unbelievable accomplishment to go on a run here and win the whole thing. You're four games away. It's real. It's on the table. As much as last week hurt — and it hurt — here we are now. All the focus has got to be on Tennessee and winning this first one."

* Day said Ohio State will practice outside this week and next week to prepare itself for the elements during the College Football Playoff matchup against Tennessee.

* Day said he's spent more time with the offense since the Michigan loss and, asked about changes, Day said the Buckeyes will do whatever it takes to win the game against Tennessee.

* Day said he thinks it will be "great" and "electric" at Ohio Stadium for a night Playoff game. "The fans feed off the players and the players feed off the fans. It will be an historic game and we're looking forward to it."

* On fans possibly booing – "We're fired up to be at home. We can't wait to be at home. We are fired up to go win this last game at Ohio Stadium."

He added, "That happens on a three and out anyway, so we're good, we're used to it."

* Day understands why the committee did not penalize teams that lost in conference championship games.

* Day on Ohio State bouncing back from its loss to Michigan: "We've moved on from that. It didn't go well," he said. "We want to make sure we're playing free with our focus on winning the game, not worried about the consequences."

When you have a coach acknowledging that the fans are going to boo and begging to get past the Michigan game...

Indiana ranked in the top 10 at any point, being in the playoffs and OSU getting credit for beating a top 10 Indiana is ludicrous. Big 10+8 bias cannot be allowed to continue. UGA dropping 9 spots for losing on the road to pre-season playoff projected and top 15 Ole Miss while OSU lost badly at home to a garbage Michigan team and dropping around half as many spots as UGA was criminally blatant bias all to give OSU a home game is absolute trash and the national media is acting like it didn't happen.

Instead, all the talk was about SMU getting in over Bama. SMU would murder Indiana. Not even going to address the pedophile enablers being ranked 6th with the easiest first 2 rounds as it's such an obvious joke. UGA and Texas getting such easy roads to the championship rounds certainly made Skankey happy.

F the committee and the Big 10+8 for being corrupt. They absolutely scheduled to tryn̈ to get as many conference teams as possible. Disgusting

I never thought I’d see the day that Greg Sankey got stuffed in a locker for an entire season by the Big 10. He let that conference dictate the rankings all year long. I guess he’s lost his fastball and there is a new dominant conference.
The fact is that expansion benefited the Big Ten this year because Indiana avoided playing most of their top 6 in conference, and Penn State got rewarded, too. Expansion created more parity in the SEC as OU took Bama out. Texas would have gotten in from the Big 12, and I doubt that conference would have had an at large selection. Unintended consequences.
