Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Yes they have a lot of fans that are completely apathetic.

Lot of "who cares, we lost to Michigan", "who cares, we'll just lose to Oregon", "who cares, Day will still be our coach"

People trying their best to pull out of the doldrums. But it does illustrate that it is a real conversation in their fanbase:

Vibes are very low. If we come out and punch them in the mouth, and/or force a stop in short yardage, they will immediately turn on Day and thus the team
If I were Day, I'd cut a trail out of that place in the middle of the night before the next full moon, 😂

Vols team, Vols fans and the CFB world got hosed by UT not hosting in Neyland. This biased committee needs to GTFO. Only things they got right were the top 4 and leaving Bama out.

OSU, PSU and ND have no business hosting. Stupid Big 10+8 and northern Midwest bias has to be eliminated with their weak, pussy schedules. Indiana ever being a top 10 team to boost OSU's schedule is a F'ing joke. Hope all those teams get absolutely run.

If there is going to be obvious bias then make everything in the playoffs neutral site games in FL, Arizona, SoCal or dome stadiums. The bad weather favors the lesser talented and less explosive teams, especially if the more explosive team is more of a passing team.

Thankfully, we are built on a dominant D and run game but the passing game is also key to our ability to run and a bunch of snow can really hamper that and make us more one dimensional....especially with limiting explosive plays. Screw a bunch of freezing cold, snow covered fields for 3 out of the 4 host venues. Garbage but at least we get the opportunity to humble OSU and Nico has progressed late in the season and we get Oregon in warm Pasadena weather if we get past OSU.

Our D, run game and explosiveness should make for a good match up for us against the no defense playing Ducks that are fast but will physically be at a big disadvantage against us. Just need our LB's to be ready to play in space and I would love to see Banks have us in a lot of nickel and dime packages the entire game against Oregon. Only way the beat us is if they can create speed mismatches over the middle on our LB's.

Hell, I'd put Jakobe in as the second LB in nickel packages for coverage and since he can play the run....especially sideline to sideline or coming downhill on run fits. Put McCoy and Gibson outside to shut down Oregon's outside receivers, Harrison/Boo on the slot, Boo/Jakobe on their TE and a rotation of Turrentine, Brooks and possibly Jakobe at safety while our waves of front 4 DL eat their small, weak OL alive.

Our OL will run down their throats....just need Nico to be ready to take off if Oregon's speed rushers get past Heard and especially Campbell. Play Dayne quite a bit at RT and have the RB chip on Edge or other blitzers on playaction. Grown men vs. fast but small, weaker defenders. Lanning learning from Kirby how to stop our O is my only worry.
Kirby hasn't figured out how to "stop" our offense...he and a couple other DCs have figured out how to impede or "slow" it, but mostly he has benefited greatly from extremely poor execution by our OL, our QB and our WRs when we play at Athens.

He has a loaded roster....anytime you play a really good defense, points are naturally going to be at a premium...but the plays are still there to be made.

If/when our players finally execute at a high level against Georgia...we will score...a lot.

Also....the SECorrupt hitman crews have helped him tremendously by letting his players absolutely maul our players all over the field on both sides of the ball with zero repercussions.

"Sankey has failed."

Bama fans know the Birmingham office shows extreme favoritism to Bama in all matters, including officiating.

DW needs to make some calls. If this is the best OSU can do, the CFP needs to move the game to Knoxville. F the F eyes
That is the CFP rules. The small amount of tickets is why the full Pride will not be going to the game. More tickets will be released for the next round. The thought it to increase the home field advantage.

Yep. If this were at home or even neutral site, I'd be guaranteeing a Tennessee win. We're definitely the better team on paper, but we're just so freaking bad on the road.
At some point we will get better on the road against good teams...but the odds of doing it in this game, at this point in our build, are just not good...but that doesn't mean it can't happen, it just means it is not likely.

I would love to see our guys shake that particular monkey off of our back in these playoffs...it would be insane.

What Ryan Day said about the College Football Playoff draw:

Day: “We’re fired up. We’re obviously excited about playing the first-ever playoff game in Ohio Stadium.”
Day noted the turnaround for Tennessee is quicker than a typical bowl game.
Day: “The guys have a good look in their eye.”
Day was asked if he knows who the starters will be on the offensive line. His response: “I know who’s going to be in the mix.”
Interior offensive linemen Luke Montgomery and Josh Padilla are among those in the mix to play for OSU.
Day on Zen Michalski: “Right now, he’s not available.”
Ohio State has had a few players announce they’re entering the transfer portal. Day on if any of those players will still be able to take part in CFP games:
“We’ll make decisions on an individual basis.”
OSU practiced twice last week. The Buckeyes utilized time to rest up.
Day on Tennessee coming to Ohio State this late in the season: “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Day said quarterback Will Howard, like many others on the team, has moved on well from the Michigan game.
Day elected to not dive too deeply into the CFP selection process. He does agree that conference champs deserve to get in. He added: “The quality of win... probably matters the most.”
Day asked about looking ahead at who Ohio State could play: “We’re not there at all. We’ve got to win this first game.”
Day said there are aspects from the NFL that are relatable to the CFP structure.
Day on potentially winning the CFP: “This would be an unbelievable accomplishment.”
Day: “Definitely been spending some time with the offense (this week).”
Day was asked if OSU would benefit from playing on the road because of the threat of fans booing. His response: “We’re fired up to be at home. We can’t wait to be at home.”
Day believes teams shouldn’t be penalized for losing a close contest in a conference championship game.
Day: “When you get into the playoffs, you’ve got to score points... We’ve got to do that in this game.”
Based on last week’s rankings, Ohio State wasn’t too surprised to be the No. 8 seed.
Day on Tennessee’s offense: “Very innovative coach. I think the quarterback has a strong arm. The running back is excellent.”

FTR..... This is Ryan Day (he reminds me of Butch Jones. Fake and can't win the big one)Screenshot_20241208_165735_DuckDuckGo.jpg
He's lost to Michigan 4 straight years, missed the Big10 championship game 4 straight years, and tOSU fans have had enough of him. If we jump on them quick, the boo birds will be out in force.
