Edit: They really need to bring back the BCS to decide the CFP rankings. Humans are naturally biased, and people can’t be trusted.

The BCS is nearly identical to what the committee did. Plus it would put Bama in over SMU so it’s definitely flawed. Nobody has an easy path to the national championship. Everyone is saying OSU sucks and should be rated below us. If they suck we should be able to beat them at the stupid horseshoe. Glad Heupel and company don’t think that way. They lost to Michigan at home. It will be a tough game but if we are a real contender we should be able to beat them. Anyone, anytime, anywhere.

That anytime anyone anywhere is nonsense bravado. There hasn't been a college football team pretty much ever that could beat anyone anytime anywhere. You need good match ups and home crowds and luck to win national titles.

I don't think the committee is at fault for Tennessee not hosting. It's the byes for conference champions is the reason Tennessee is not hosting. I'm fine with conference champs getting in but the byes have to go. If look at the top 12 you could nitpick but those 12 are probably right. Bama still gets bumped cause Clemson is outside the top 12. The byes go to Oregon, UGA, TX, and Penn St. 1st round games would be Clemson at ND, Arizona St at OSU, SMU at Tennessee, and, Boise St at Indiana. That would be fairest way to do it.

I guess to spread out the almost good enough teams over several bowls instead of having them play each other.

I look for these almost good enoughs to all be skeleton crews anyway.

You remember when we beat Florida and dropped 3 spots? Do you remember ND losing at home to Northern Illinois? Did you know Ohio State had a home loss to 6-5 Michigan? Did you see when Alabama lost by 3 TDs to Oklahoma and only dropped to 13th? Do you remember when the committee said Arkansas was a bad loss for us but a good win for Tejas (on the same episode)? And on and on and on and on. Warde and his buddies did whatever benefitted themselves the most. He talked out of both sides of his mouths all season. He's also the AD of the school that got busted for stealing and distributing playoff hopeful team's signals and the NCAA let them keep the trophy. 🤔

Now we have 2 Big 10 teams hosting 2 "Southern" teams, Notre Dame (which is in the state of Indiana and IMO, should be members of the Big 10) hosting the University of Indiana, and Texas hosting Clemson 2 more "Southern" teams. They could have done better than "they pass the eye test".

Look at the rankings on the left and the 1st round games again and tell me they fairly seeded these teams. Screenshot_20241208_211428_Gallery.jpg


Bonus question (this one I don't understand): Why were the ACC champs the 12th seed and not 5th? They gave the top 4 conference champions bye weeks but the lowest ranked champion goes on the road to play the 5th ranked team "toughest team". I don't get it. 🤔


The whole system was set up for confusion and corruption. More honest, smarter people need to be involved with making it better.


TENNESSEE didn't have a friend on the selection committee. That's why we are not hosting. We definitely deserve to be.

Jack that’s worse than being a commie. It’s never correct to say put Bama in. Repeat after me. They suck and got beat by Vandy and got slaughtered by Oklahoma. The BCS computer would not have helped us. I think the real issue is the stupidity of the first round bye given too inferior conference champions. I get your frustration as I was pissed last week but took a deep breath and remembered at the first of the year I would be thrilled if we got in no matter where we were seeded. We are in the dance. Let’s enjoy the ride. We should be thrilled.

And it’s not just the Bama fans on their board. The Bama AD in saying that Bama should dodge stiff OOC competition.

He got it from Saban. It was Saban's dishonest pitch today. It's an organized garbage-take propaganda spiel. Now Bama did already play a weak OOC schedule this year. It bears no relation at all to missing the playoffs. They lost to Vandy and got blown out in a “bad loss” to Okie. SEC games.

These lies segue right into “and not playing good OOC teams is bad for football.” It’s altruism, you see. 🙄 Bama not deserving the playoffs is harming college football. Bama is not pissed they failed to merit the playoffs. Bama is claiming (yet again) (cf. NIL and the demise of their bag game) that what is good for Bama is good for football. And then they lie and make up a fake connection. "(NIL will destroy parity.")

Saban is using his Disney platform, Byrne as AD, and all the dumb-as-dirt Bama fans are not merely posting random "message board genius" idiot takes. The idiot takes are the official Bama takes. These message board Bammers are towing the company line. And -- get this -- they can do this by simple imitation.

How long before the rest of the talking heads are parroting this heinous pack of lies? They'll tie any mention of Bama missing the playoffs into this concern-troll spiel about what's good for college football.

Yep. Such a garbage system. Way way way more complicated than it should be, which always leads to poor results.
