Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Happy wife, happy life is a mantra I live by. I also respect my wife enough to not drop a ton of money without discussing it with her. So I’ll stick with the pair I have and remain happy with it. But thanks!
I was talking about having to sit around OSU fans not pissing off your wife. I’m crazy but I’m not suicidal.

I get it and the mealy mouth double talk was nauseating but if you look up what the BCS projections were it’s basically identical. We are all biased and it’s just going to come down to opinions. I think the correct 12 teams got in at the end of the day. The biggest issue is giving a 9 and 12 seed first round byes. Actually Oregon got screwed worse than us. At the end of the day you are going to have to beat several good teams to win it. I think there could be some surprising results. Let’s ride.
The main difference is that the BCS had us above Ohio State, didn't it? May misremember.

But you're right. It's the way they treat the conference winners and the byes.

That anytime anyone anywhere is nonsense bravado. There hasn't been a college football team pretty much ever that could beat anyone anytime anywhere.
That's a silly thing to say, Jave. You really going to tell your team:
You need good match ups and home crowds and luck to win national titles.

I'm not Josh Heupel....I can be objective. If you think just because Meatchicken ran them at home means that we are going to run them at home, then you are not that bright.

That is one of the most ferocious rivalries in all of sports and OSU clearly lost simply because UM is in their head....I hate to break this to you, but we are not in their head, there will be no psychological edge for us.

They are pissed off and embarrassed, and they are going to play like their hair is on fire...and they have one of the two most deeply stacked rosters in CFB.

Winning this game is going to be a monumental achievement...if we play our best, then we can win, but we don't play our best against good teams on the road.

Also...anybody that says "OSU sucks" is an idiot, I don't know any people that think "OSU sucks". Just because our people think we have a better resume and deserve to host the game...does not Jean we think OSU sucks.

This is simply the truth of our current place in the rebuild...if we were playing at Neyland, this is a likely win, but with it being in Columbus it is a likely loss...we simply have not shown the ability to play great against good teams on the road.

I would love to see that narrative change...but I don't expect it will right now.

I hope you're right and I'm wrong...I will gladly eat crow....I actually love to eat Crow.

I'm not telling them anything lol, they don't know who I am.

But look at every national title team ever. If they played every game on the road they wouldn't have won it. You can't go through a season without having some tough games at home.

So I do care about having to go on the road, it matters and hurts our chances to win.

I care too. But that doesn't make the only appropriate attitude to take into this game "nonsense bravado."

And we don't have to play "every game" on the road. Just this one.

We didn't even have OTs in those first two road games. They have no sway over what happens this month. Anything can happen. I hope we have our best offensive performance of the year.

Sure...just have to beat 4 of the 7 best teams in the country....no problem..😖
Why are you being negative? In the immortal words of the great wrestling philosopher,

No woo.

Given that "How good is Josh Allen?" isn't a numerical stat, all we are left with is approximations.

Josh Allen has certainly won games where he played terrible. If you think one specific example makes the generality invalid, you're just arguing that speaking in generalities is bad. And it isn't bad. Good QBs win more games than bad QBs. There's nothing wrong with that generality.
No QB has ever won a game in his own. Not Montana. Not Elway. Not Manning nor Brady. My point was it’s a team sport that requires the entire team including the coaching staffs.

To even remotely say a QB wins the game is foolish and factually incorrect. Just like when dumb TN fans say Peyton never beat Florida but Clausen did. It’s ridiculous.

And it’s not just the Bama fans on their board. The Bama AD in saying that Bama should dodge stiff OOC competition.

He got it from Saban. It was Saban's dishonest pitch today. It's an organized garbage-take propaganda spiel. Now Bama did already play a weak OOC schedule this year. It bears no relation at all to missing the playoffs. They lost to Vandy and got blown out in a “bad loss” to Okie. SEC games.

These lies segue right into “and not playing good OOC teams is bad for football.” It’s altruism, you see. 🙄 Bama not deserving the playoffs is harming college football. Bama is not pissed they failed to merit the playoffs. Bama is claiming (yet again) (cf. NIL and the demise of their bag game) that what is good for Bama is good for football. And then they lie and make up a fake connection. "(NIL will destroy parity.")

Saban is using his Disney platform, Byrne as AD, and all the dumb-as-dirt Bama fans are not merely posting random "message board genius" idiot takes. The idiot takes are the official Bama takes. These message board Bammers are towing the company line. And -- get this -- they can do this by simple imitation.

How long before the rest of the talking heads are parroting this heinous pack of lies? They'll tie any mention of Bama missing the playoffs into this concern-troll spiel about what's good for college football.
The Saban and Byrne take is so dumb. All their losses this year were in conference, they get no say in that schedule. Look in the future for scheduling non-P4 teams? Exactly how would that have helped this year?

This is whiney sour grapes from an entitled school that always got true benefit of the doubt and was allowed to skirt rules.

Welcome to actual reality.
