Had Blood Oath too but didn't pull the trigger.
They want to make a profit? The nerve of those capitalist pig dogs!Just wait till year 3 and 4. You're in the honeymoon phase where they make everyone feel good and care about growing. Their goal is to unload it at a profit by year 5. The industry term "PE year 4" exists for a reason.
Youre right there are good ones out there, but it's far from 1:1 good to bad.
I thought the star position was coached by CWM
I’m frustrated with both then
What’s the point of recruiting talented freshman and not playing them while the older guys continually get beat or make sure tackles 15 yards downfield
You could just portal guys each year at that rate
I know CWM is tied to CJH and I respect that but I also haven’t liked CWM ever
I think there are better CB coaches out there and banks is a pretty good DC but his position coaching is not great imo either
Overall the secondary has left a lot to be desired
Yes the talent was bad at the start but overall it seems to be lacking in improvement of talent and play overall compared to the other positions
I can’t wait for this season but if our dbs keep getting burned in the passing game again it’s gonna be frustrating to watch AGAIN…….
Also I assume you live on Marco island
My parents live in fort myers
I really like that area …fort myers/naples
They have grown up significantly in the last 30 years
secks.
No, no worries, I didn't view it as a knock on Jabari Small, and I'm certainly not making an attempt to defend his honor, necessarily. I'm simply trying to determine how your opinion was formed based on a lack of evidence on Bishop's behalf. It sounds based more in hope and projection based on high school production mixed in with a little bit of unqualified camp reports.
You're right that Small wasn't a major recruiting win, though his offer list was vastly more impressive than Bishop's if we are being honest. Tennessee, Texas A&M, Michigan, Auburn, UNC, Kentucky, Ole Miss, etc. Bishop's best offers were Tennessee, Michigan St, Miss St, VA Tech, and Purdue. Most thought he was headed to Coastal Carolina before opting for Tennessee following a late push.
Small also played against much stiffer HS competition playing for Briarcrest Christian in Memphis. Karns isn't playing a "who's who" kind of schedule against East TN competition. So, while I'm well aware of Bishop's record-setting exploits in high school, it's also fair to wonder what Jabari Small could have done playing for Karns carrying the ball 40+ times per game against the likes of Halls (my alma mater), William Blount, and Campbell County, as well.
It's fine to feel like Bishop could be that kind of player. I guess I just disagree with the automatic assumption that he's destined to be an upgrade. Small wasn't dynamic or supremely talented, but the tangible evidence to support the idea that Bishop is a better version of him isn't there, IMO. We can agree to disagree on that, though. I hope you're right, because that would certainly be a welcomed surprise.
Absolutely! I'm more than willing to join the club that hopes the floor of our RB room is Jabari Small. Small was never the outright RB...he split carries all 4 years, which is seemingly Heupel's MO with RBs, which helps explain why he never cleared 800 yds. My disagreement was with you calling Bishop an upgrade on him before he's taken a snap. Just seemed like pie in the sky, though it may prove out over time. As I said, I hope you're right. We all want to see more talent in the building. I don't have a preference where that comes from. If it's Bishop, then I'm all for it.
As long as we have a strong center...If Small and Bishop end up comparable as the floor of our RB room then I will be thrilled. I think our offense makes average RBs look very good and productive. Just like QB, I don't ever expect to have a bad running game unless our OL is garbage but I don't see that happening with our scheme, rotation of fresh legs with minimal wear and how we are recruiting and developing OL. At the very least, we should be a very attractive spot for portal OL.
So what's the solution to PE's downside, a new round of anti-trust legislation? If you don’t know why PE is a bad thing, just say that. It is well known that PE firms are scum who only value short-term gain over all else. They will lay off, sell, or outsource all that they can to realize that gain, no matter the long-term effects and consequences. They are vultures who come in with smiles while they prepare to carve you up like a turkey. They’re not to be trusted under any circumstances, and any AD in this country would be wise to avoid them at all costs.
If a PE group like Redbird LLC decides that UNC is not making enough money within their typically extremely aggressive timelines, they’re going to start selling stuff the university owns to make up the difference—and ANYTHING is on the table at that point. That’s a fact.
We should consider ourselves lucky that UT makes enough money that this isn’t even remotely necessary. These smaller schools that are being forced into this by ADs and presidents with no financial knowledge are going to learn some very hard lessons.
We tried that by letting you start a game thread. It is dangerous!I am not saying that all PE is good or bad. I am saying nothing should be painted with a broad brush. We should take each thing as it is and evaluate people and things on their own merit. Not lump them together with other similar things and assume they are all the same. It is dangerous.
