Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I love spares so much more than baby backs.

This rub was really good on a pork butt so I expect good things on the ribs
Ya the rub is much more diluted in a butt, so I was worried the bacon would overpower in ribs.

I got some pork steaks (pork butt sliced), so I'm smoking those with meat church honey hog and voodoo, and a third one with a local BBQ joint rub. Going to see which is best. Might try the bacon one if you give it a good review on ribs.

I had Coach Pennington in middle school for gym. I'll never forget some of his sayings. I can still hear them in my head...lol. Mrs. Pennington (or Mrs. P as she often liked to be called) was my 10th grade English teacher at the high school. Andrea was a year behind me in school. Chad went to Webb for obvious reasons (sports). It provided him a bigger spotlight and allowed him to run an offense that featured the QB, unlike Halls, who ran the Wing-T at the time, and successfully I might add. Just not the offense you want to play in if you have aspirations of playing at the next level.

I never had Mrs. P but my wife loved her and Andrea was really nice. All around family of great people and agreed that Chad wouldn't have been prepared for success at Halls.....he was also really good at basketball too. Halls did go to the the playoffs (I think even the championship game) and I remember the whole school getting lectured after we lost to Pearl Cohn and John "Baby Shaq" Henderson in '96. My family knew the Hamiltons and Katy's older sister, Kristen Hamilton was a cheerleader that I had such a huge crush on. She was like the peak of hotness for my middle school and then 9th grade mind.

I showed this exchange to my wife and she loved Mrs. P and all the coaches. She moved from NH in 7th grade and graduated in 2002 (talk about culture shock). She still is in touch with a lot of people from Halls, including some coaches. She took weight training and was jacked for a little 100lb chick when I met her at 17.....she still has some shoulders for her size. She can't remember the name but one of the coaches recently died.

I really liked Principal Ivey, super cool old guy. He ended up being my principal at Powell High for a year before retiring and that bumbling idiot Eddie Maclemore taking over....guy hated me.

There is a lot of that in all the media. It’s like the old saying of “publish or perish”. Media folks have to produce or find another job and there are a lot of media people. I personally don’t want to watch the news to often, I prefer to tune into Volnation to try and escape reality and see what the clever and articulate folks on here have to say. The personal stories, antidotes, remembrances, travels etc. I find really interesting.

Have you checked out Northern Arizona? The northwestern part is similar to southwest Colorado in terms of weather and it has mountains. I am not sure as to affordability for long term living, but you are close to a lot of neat places like Lake Powell, the Grand Canyon, southern Utah Parks to name a few. These places all have really nice places to camp, especially the Grand Canyon.
Yep...I found a 1/2 acre piece of property close to Lake Mead for 1,500 that I could move a camper onto..just have to put in a septic tank, and pay for the water and electric hook up...about 7,500 for all that.

She's a lot prettier than you.

I had finally got to within 50 pages from being caught up after being behind an average of 100-110 pages behind the past week or two. Now, with that Sanders commitment, I full expect to be back to 100+ pages behind by the time I can get back on later tonight 🙃🤷🏻‍♂️

Worth it for this commitment. Bigggggg Booom!

Our posts are not worth all that time. Trust me just skip to the end.

View attachment 667982View attachment 667983Whoo boy these Ohio State fans are salty. Like getting their ass beat by Michigan every year levels of salt. Their tears are so so tasty and I’m keeping ALL the receipts. We may only finish 5th in the SEC this year, but that would be good enough for 1st in their Mickey Mouse conference 😂
And THAT is why I hate them so much...I want them destroyed.

You use 3-2-1 or another method? Where did you get them from?
Publix, and I go unwrapped for 2.5 hours or so (until they get mahogany color) then wrap for another 2

I don’t try to get a competition cook. We like them falling off bone almost and this method has worked well for that previously

I was curious because I never use 3-2-1. Just takes too long. I do similar to what you’re doing but need to refine a bit. Either way, there’s something special about smoking bbq.

I use voodoo on chicken wings every time now. MC’s honey hog is fire as is the hot honey hog
