Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I just do not want it to end up hurting us...we are nowhere near able to compete with the really big spenders.

Heupel has made it work well so far, but it's like walking a tightrope...we are just a few wrong personell decisions or bad breaks from going 4-4 in the SEC because we obviously don't have the money to buy competitive depth or room to miss very much.

This is just getting way out of hand...I see way too much downside to the current pure chaos going on...I do not and never will like or be comfortable with chaos...chaos is always destructive. It is a fundamental law of nature.

No Orange...before you even say it..NO I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE A CORRUPT SYSTEM EITHER. I want a fair model for everybody where at least a spark of the tradition that made CFB beautiful to me is kept alive...I do not want it to be destroyed forever.

Why the hell is it so hard to acknowledge the very real danger if that happening? It is obvious as hell to me.
Really good points McGill. While this system has helped us short term it’s probably not good for us long term. While we have a rabid fan base we do not have the resources that some of the massive universities like OSU, Texas, etc have in alumni and ultra wealthy alumni. On the bright side neither does a school like Alabama. Basically all we see in here is every time a good player hit the portal people start posting we should get that player. Which means some rich alumnus should spend their money to get them. It’s nuts if you think about it. Nothing about this is college football it’s just NFL li

Well said McGill. It’s not sustainable and if it goes unchecked it will favor the few richest colleges which we are not. The closest thing in pro sports to this is MLB and very few teams have a chance and they happen to be the rich, large market teams. They are on a slippery slope and better get some gaurd rails in place or they will kill the golden goose. College is so fragmented it’s hard to see how they work it out with an equitable system. Plus Sankey and the BIG commissioner are crap human egomaniacs and they have all the power. Just have to see how it plays out but it’s hard to think it’s not going to get worse. I’m 62 so I view Tennessee football with nostalgia and love the tradition but it is on a path that could have many like me just walk away. I used to have season tickets but made the decision that it just wasn’t worth the money anymore. I don’t know a reasonable fix that doesn’t violate the court ruling though. Sorry for the old person rambling. 🤷‍♂️

Happy Saturday

December 14, 2024: To those who have a heart to be helpful, be mindful of the limitations of your strength and energy. Take time to rest and recharge, and be kind to yourself. Spend time iin God's presence so that your discernment is sharp and directives are clear. Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

Not sure how old your son is.. But feels like you start with satb.... Lol
Either way.. Good work.
He's turning 13 tomorrow and I wanted to save the best for last. SATB is a cinematic masterpiece. I actually love part 2 too......even though it's not near as good as the first one.

But ive thought about this!
I suggest the the University of Tennessee puts @TrippieRedd as the portal coordinator in all 3 major sports.

Trippie would be in charge of handing out offers. You get an offer, you get an offer, oh you definitely get an offer, oh my gosh we have to offer this guy.😜😜

Those texas UFOs were crazy. The pilots talk about them moving very fast, coming together and then moving apart etc. 1st pilot/crew talks extensively with ATC and says they have been watching them for about 30 mins. Then a 2nd pilot calls in and says his crew have been observing them for about an hour. When ATC asks the 1st group for an estimated altitude and he says "100 miles, into space" my jaw dropped. The 2nd pilot chimes in and agrees with the altitude assessment. As far as public records go...the US and humans in general do not have craft that can just go mess around for an hour 100 miles up...or manuever rapidly like that up in space, coming together in groups and then flying apart. If we have managed to develop something like that, from a captured craft or otherwise, you would think guys like Elon Musk at least would know about it. He says he has no proof of alien ships etc in interviews. As much as NASA, SpaceX, other private space companies, amateur astronomers etc are always staring out into space and observing it....you would think that they would be aware if humans had developed and tested new vehicles with this kind of capability. Especially if any of those flights took place over the US, Europe, or the Middle East since those areas have very strict airspaces etc. Pretty crazy stuff. Personally i think that now there is a lot of public pressure as well as several lawmakers beating the drum about UFOs and the need to release truth to the public, we are gonna see a lot more stuff coming out on this topic. It used to be taboo, and pilots hid what they saw for fear of ridicule...that stigma is gone now. Pilots actually share what they see, and it seems that crazy stuff like this happens frequently.
DARPA could have something.

Obscure, but pretty cool.

During Bob Hope’s “Christmas Special,” Bob Johnson was introduced as the Center on the LOOKS All-America Team. One of Johnson’s “teammates” was OJ Simpson.

Johnson was a 2x All-SEC player and was named the SEC’s best Lineman and best blocker in 1967. He was also an Academic All-American and finished 6th in the Heisman Trophy voting.

We would be great. We would need to create about 100 more billionaires to pay all the NIL but that should be no problem because WE ARE TENNESSEE!
