Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Debt is merely a cashflow financing game. As examples, Walmart and Amazon have 50-150 billion in debt each.

There's also a game theory point here when competing or keeping up with others. Countries with low relative debt levels are such wonderful places as: Palestine, Russia, Eswatini, Botswana, and Saudia Arabia.

Govt and corporate debt is different from personal debt insofar as it is used to (ideally) produce more revenue than the interest accrued. Unlike individuals buying 80 grand worth of depreciating assets (cars) on borrowed money.
Russia is beautiful though unlike the other names mentioned

Jerry Magallanes has a checkered past with controversial calls and was suspended after "gifting" Miami a win over Duke in 2015. His crew also overturned a Hail Mary this season, to give Miami a win over VT. He also officiated our Music City Bowl loss against Purdue in 2021

Why would you let a guy with his history officiate a CFP game??? 🤔

I'm sure he was a good kid, and I, too, regret how he was treated. And his coaches were garbage. But he lost me when he fumbled on that Bama goal line play where he pulled the handoff to the RB and tried to score himself. One of the most bone-headed plays in Vols history. My rage that day was Incredible Hulk level. And an angry Yeti, though a rare sight, is not to be trifled with.

Yeah...the back to back pick6s on consecutive plays at home vs Kentucky to break our unbeaten home streak vs them was pretty horrible too. Literally scored 14 points for the other team in under a minute. Have never seen it before, or since. He had TERRIBLE coaches the entire time he was here though. Pruitt abused the guy. Would love to punch Pruitt in his barely literate Gump face.

That said...i have been VERY critical of JG when he was a player here and I regret most of it. He is the least successful UT QB ever...lost 2 games for every game he won as a starter, look it up if you must...but it wasnt all on him and in fairness, he had the worst coaches we have had at UT in my 47 years of life. I feel sorry for the guy honestly. He always loved UT and was very hard on himself when he didnt play well. He didnt need me or anyone else kicking him while he was down. I honestly hope the best for JG and if he wants to be a bigger part of UT sports media then I am all for it. I will support him 100% as a VFL that gave 4 years and a million terrible beatings to our beloved UT football program.

Edit: and kid was tough as Hades. Picked himself up off the ground and kept playing many times when others would have quit. He spent many, many hours in ice baths and hot tubs trying to get rid of bruises and injuries. Tough dude and by all accounts a good Christian guy.

You're mostly right, but those places have low debt because they're so untrustworthy that lenders charge much higher rates to them. The implication that low debt contributes to the scumminess of a place is backward; scumminess makes it really difficult to get affordable debt.

Also, for government and business, there is an ideal amount of debt to carry. The US is arguably approaching that limit or possibly has already gone over.

I don't remember seeing multiple forward laterals? Massive blindside block and block in the back and a player who was probably down, but I thought all the laterals were backward?
You very well could be right. I caught myself and was trying to delete the post because I wasn't sure.
