Recruiting Football Talk VIII

That’s why I think there’s more corruption lol. Of course it was happening before, just ask the NBA. Now the gambling is everywhere, not just Vegas.

If we legalized heroin nationally, any idiot could predict a rise in crimes associated with it like theft and vagrancy. Gambling being legalized everywhere will increase corruption. I don’t need proof to make an inference. It’s the same thing.
Not a good analogy. People with enough money to cause a game to be fixed were already gambling no matter if it were legal in their state or not.

You could even make an argument that casinos might be less likely to press the last resort button (game fixing) now that they're making so many more billions off dummy amateurs nationwide who never had access to gambling. If they're over leveraged in a certain game and might be tempted to fix it, they'll hesitate more because the extra income they get now means losing that one over leveraged game won't put their whole season in the red like it used to.

So no, sponsoring sports leagues has probably not increased the corruption. I'd wager (ha) the same number of games are being fixed now as they always have.

Love it for Kim

Dude!..no lie if this turnaround becomes “pat like” i seriously hope she considers writing a book on how bad this program/team was from a fundamental standpoint and what she had to overcome…just last year these girls couldn’t hit a lay up…now they’re hitting 30+ 3’s in a game!!…COME ONNNN…give us the secret ingredient..Kim

After our 6-24 night, we might need to invite her to some practices for the men's team.

These are horrible incompetent refs
Actually..after I thought about this some more, I had something to add to the other comment I made on this post..

I also did think it was just gross incompetence in the first half...because their trigger happy, self-important 💩 calls were going both ways for the most part...the 2nd half completely disabused me of that notion.

That 💩 was an attempted screw job.

You should watch some other games. Refs are bad in all college sports and not just the ones involving UT. This crew was especially bad. But I do believe crews can be influenced by home environments which is a whole other issue.
You are why they will always get away with the screw job.

Like I've always said here when these guys bla blah blah about facts and evidence...

I don't have to see the wind to know it's blowing.

For one...I don't necessarily think it's the books that do this.

Well why watch the game if you're so dead set on this narrative? The way individuals are talking on here, CJH should just mail it in and say the hell with it. Although you do you and be in misery about every situation about this upcoming football game. Just like the basketball game great teams overcome all obstacles and still win. The basketball team just proved it, why not the football team?

Winning or losing today is pretty irrelevant for the season, but we're definitely going to have gone through adversity today as a team for the 1st time. Hopefully we can carry that over to the conference schedule a month from now. SEC schedule is going to be brutal. Today should pay off bigly.

That step up by JG will take a lot of pressure off ZZ going forward. He's been pressing, now he can let the game flow and not feel he has to do everything.

HUGE win for the team psyche.

^^^^^^^

How do we feel about Guarantano trying to come back to the Vol sphere of media? He’s lobbying to get on podcasts on Twitter pretty heavily.

Smart funny charismatic dude who has seen every side of CFB. Personally think he’d do well in the media landscape given a bit of media training. I’m for it, he seems to want to support TN too

Another thing of note:

Last year, UT had 3 losses going into SEC play and wound up with a 2 seed in the NCAAT after a 14-4 conference record.

UT will 99% likely be undefeated going into SEC play this season. Just a respectable 13-5 record in SEC play should generate our program’s first ever #1 seed in the NCAAT. A 12-6 conference record would have us in the mix. The SEC is even tougher than last year, so every game will be important.

This has potential to be another memorable season.

In this year's SEC, 12-6 would be elite.

Given how much the SEC has flexed on other conferences thus far, SEC teams' conference results will get a lot of leeway come tournament time verse past years. If a team finishes top 2 in the conference, regardless of the number of conference losses, will pretty much have a 1 seed locked up.

Vols went absolutely all time crazy tonight. Lady Vols all time record performance. Swimmer set a world record many thought was humanly impossible (perhaps the greatest achievement today). Gainey had a career day and a coming out party, very exciting for his future this year. Football recruiting became clear in the portal

nice day

Igor may have had a rough shooting night but the young man had 33% of Tennessee rebounds in the game.. talk about cleaning the glass ..
He was great tonight. That steal and bucket was huge... He's a glue guy. Plays a bigger role than three start sheet will usually show. Mashack too. That kid is an animal.

Winning on the road this year... Gonna be hard to do. Extra credit for those that go in to auburn, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and come out with wins. Can't imagine there will be that many.
