I know this is a late reply, but I don’t blame the kids at all for doing this. Go make that money if they can. It’s legal so according to the law of the land. The whole house of College Football was built on sand. It’s just finally crumbling. Im sure the kids will be fine. The NFL players are. A bargaining agreement is the best thing to slow this monster down. Problem is that completely destroys the whole college football model and turns it into an NFL-lite. At that point it’s NFL vs NFL-lite which is find interesting how that will go. I’m sure not many will lose interest initially. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see interest drop gradually for a product (NFL) that is better.Congressional intervention and collective bargaining is coming. Kids will regret continuing to push it and push it. What’s coming in the future for them as employees of the school won’t be quite as rosy as the deals they are getting now.
Ah, the Bear's Den is probably gone now, as it was just a wee hole in the wall joint 40 yrs ago, on the left side southbound. It probably never was worth recommending, but I do have some vivid memories there. Not familiar with it - do you recommend it highly? Always looking for places to eat near Townsend / Maryville
Necessary? Well, folks have done it the entire time. I've never seen anyone else blamed but them. Not even sure who else would be to blame. Why is it necessary to paint the universities as villains? Do you think Danny White and Randy Boyd are sitting in some ivory tower scheming how they can screw the SAs out of their due? I don't.
The university is more about the 40k students that pay to go there for an education, than for the few incredibly privileged athletes who get paid. And without the university, there is no team, no coach, and no venue. Changes are clearly happening, some good, some not, but meaningful change takes time.
