Recruiting Football Talk VIII

It's accurate though...I mean what has he actually done other than leave early?

He recruited 4 guys here, Squirrel is the only one that stayed or produced and he didn't coach him for a single week.

Inherited every WR that produced in 2021, 2022 was the break out year for our passing attack/team though and he wasn't here.

I didn't even say he couldn't cut it just said he wasn't it...which so far in his career has been true. Didn't recruit well here, didn't stay long enough to develop anyone, the job he left for terminated him after 2 seasons and he spent an entire year out of coaching.

What HAS Kodi Burns actually proven thus far for the sort of fandom some of ya'll are giving the dude?
I’m not giving him any fandom. I made a comment based on your post without posting a single fan remark.

You don’t get offered a NFL job when a college coach unless you’re a good coach. I have no feelings one way or the other about him particularly

These idiot OSU reporters saying the Big10 is a better conference than the SEC are going to make me pull for all of the SEC teams in bowl games......something I normally would never do. They actually said they thought Oregon, OSU, and Penn St are the 3 best teams in the playoff.
This is the year to do it, even that Fugly red team.
The committee gave Indian and other B10 teams too much credit for beating some slawww teams. The SEC needs to dominate the post season this year for better playoff rankings next.

Do you ever wonder how they decide what is and what is not on topic? Do we even follow a topic? The entire thread is full of randomness so I'm not sure how they decide what belongs and what doesn't.

Didn't realize he was let go before Allen.

Still, there is a difference in college and NFL coaching. Golesh thought enough of him to snatch him up when he got the chance. Burns did a great job with Tillman (who he transformed into a different WR), Velus, and Payton. He gets some credit for Hyatt too. And he did a great job with Heupel's WRs at UCF. Pope is the one I question. I'd take Burns back.

See this is what worries me...Burns never coached at UCF under Heupel.

He helped Tillman and Velus I'll agree with that, Payton I think just got to benefit from the offense we ran mostly. He wasn't exactly seeing a ton of balls or running much of a route tree.

As critical as we are of our ACTUAL coaches I am baffled Burns gets any sort of positivity thrown his way. We went 7-6 his only year here and just 1 WR he recruited caught 30 balls in their entire career at UT (despite 3 of the 4 playing here 3 full seasons).

If the OL and the WRs don't play well, I'm going to fire Pope and Elarbee. Everyone else is safe atm, unless they make a bonehead move. Looking at you Banks and Willie.

Well that's just not true. Plenty of unproven/bad college coaches have gone to the NFL for positional gigs and then flamed out.

Here's an easy one, Greg Schiano. 68-67 when he left Rutgers for Tampa...was he a good coach?
