4 conferencesIt's fair to remember that choosing college football champions and title games has always been flawed and wrought with bias.
How many times coulda/shoulda/woulda the Vols played for a national title that went to two other teams in the 1900s? How many times, historically, do we read about teams like Notre Dame playing nobody all season and getting voted national champs by media?
It's always been the problem with college football. But it's also one of those unique quirls that college football has that most other sports don't.
Not likely, but epic if true
That...I agree withIt is.
It's why three 3-loss SEC teams are ahead of many 2 and 1 loss teams from lower conferences...
First order is to get rid of the guaranteed top-4 spots for top-4 conf champs. That's the biggest rule screwing things up. Asu and BSU should be at the bottom. We should have a home game vs IU, Asu, smu whatever.
that would also work. Or 6 conferences with top 2 and a couple at large bids for a 16-team tournament. Cross the top 2 to each side of the bracket.4 conferences
2 divisions each
Top 2 of each division get in based on hard set rules, as every single pro league sensibly does it.
*or some version of this based on actual numbers*
No voting. No human bias. No BS.
It's almost too simple.
