Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Well.. Beating only bad teams doesn't tell you anything either.... Oh, wait... It does when you get the hell beat out of you by the only teams you play with a pulse... This isn't hard. Indiana.. Good team that deserved a really good bowl game.

Never was one of the best teams in the country, and had no business in this playoff.

And I'm betting we won't be saying that only about IU before the weekend is over.

Hopefully now people will stop acing like Indiana was a cute little underdog story. Their coach has been an arrogant douchebag for the last 6 weeks and I'm happy as **** that they got donkey stomped tonight. Go home and sit on the couch where you deserved to be all along.
what a game

Hell no on the last part. Boise, you are on the clock.

Cignetti just had the same wakeup call DeBoer just did.

A couple super seniors and transfers in a bad conference does not make you a great coach...
i'll never forget seeing deboer walking in to tuscaloosa like a conquering emperor, who'd done exactly jack ****.

Exactly. If people only tune in to see the university brand of an amateur sport, then ok...the coaches should be paid 1% of what they are now. And they should be happy being paid as an amatuer coach of an amateur sport...just shut up and coach...😏

I'm sure the players don't matter, fans will just go back to paying $200 to see our intramural team play Alabama's intramural team ☠️
I am Tennessee Volunteer fan...period.

I'm not sure there has ever been a situation in college football (any sport?) that a coach was less likely to succeed in than taking over for Saban at Alabama and Deboer and their fanbase just assumed he was going to pick up right where Saban left off.

Crazy entitlement.

Thanks for not being a fencesitter.

So you'd have the other 9 current teams, Bama, Ole Miss, and USCjr all in the playoffs. 3 loss SEC teams would be given preference moving forward...some might question it, would be good for us though. Or are you only booting IU and not AZ St and ND like the OP? Keeping SMU?

Would be fun to see how it played out, especially sec on sec 1st rd games.
I think the other conferences need to not be 1-3 elite talented teams and 10-15 total garbage talentless teams so they get teams like Indiana with bloated W/L records because they played literally one good team all year and got smashed.

1. I would be humiliated if CJH talked trash like that before a game and we WON. Much less got wrecked by another garbage overrated team.

2. There is no excuse for that language. Call me old fashioned, but I would be embarrassed if Coach Hype used 2 profanities on national TV during a sports cast when lots of kids are watching. Thats ridiculous and I dont use that language around my kids. Dont want the head coach of the team I have loved for my entire life talking that way in front of my kids either. If the team was celebrating on the field after a win, and a 4 letter word slipped...OK. Stuff happens and thats not a big deal. For a coach to be interviewed before a game on national TV and calmly choose to swear twice in 3 or 4 sentences says a lot about who he is in my opinion. Completely classless. I understand not everyone thinks this way and thats OK too. Your head coach shouldnt be cussing like some heathen teenager though while being paid millions of dollars to be the face of your program.

It's fair to remember that choosing college football champions and title games has always been flawed and wrought with bias.

How many times coulda/shoulda/woulda the Vols played for a national title that went to two other teams in the 1900s? How many times, historically, do we read about teams like Notre Dame playing nobody all season and getting voted national champs by media?

It's always been the problem with college football. But it's also one of those unique quirls that college football has that most other sports don't.

If ND is going to be in the running for these things, they need to be made to play a real schedule....but I will say they have a good defense.

How many times in the last 15 years have they been smashed in the postseason despite having a ridiculously gaudy record?
