Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Sorry y’all, didn’t mean to freak you out. They ran the Dylan Sampson piece on sec now and I love that quote from that South African kid!!
Alright kiddo. Understood. Some of us are on edge (me) before tomorrow. Warning to the other whipper snappers (I hope I got the spelling right), don’t give a fright to us before a big game unless you’ve got at defibrillator standing by.

Or a pic of CTV will do for me……..

I want to win so bad I can taste it...but what I really don't want is for us to get embarrassed...to have one of THOSE games at the worst possible time.

If we go down...I hope we at least tear them apart doing it...to just beat the total hell out of them physically and leave them completely drained and in no shape to move forward.

Our game is going to be the one they talk about when they bring up which conference is stronger
OSU is the one team in CFB with a roster that can go toe to toe with the SECs best year in and year out...so in my opinion this game going either way says nothing about the strength of the conferences.

When you get past the top 1-3 teams in each conference is where the difference in conference strength really gets laid bare.

Us just totally destroying Iowa last year is the prime example of this.

The truth is that the SEC annihilates every other conference in the NFL draft...year in and year out.

Realistically, how far down the SEC standings do we have to get before we find a team that would for sure lose too this IU team?

I think Mississippi State beats them. Just consider this fact. Indiana took 30 transfers from James Madison. Imagine an SEC team taking on 30 transfers from a Group of Five team. How would we react to that program? Everyone would be salivating at the chance to play them cause we all would know they'd have no chance if that's the best talent they can land.

Indiana wouldn't stand a chance in the SEC.

Cignetti just had the same wakeup call DeBoer just did.

A couple super seniors and transfers in a bad conference does not make you a great coach...
Deboer is worse. He actually had something and screwed to up. Vignette just found out he didn’t have what he thought he did.

I hope they all suck, except us 😅

Just give me 3 years of being Clemson and I can die happy lol

We wouldn't be the first or last (OSU, USC, FSU, Miami, OU, Texas). I'd happily run a down SEC all day long.

The problem there is you give yourself no room for error (assuming the stupid autobid rules are removed). If we play a trash schedule because we're in a trash conference then one single misstep like the one against Arkansas could knock us out of the playoffs. Especially during the 4 team era when an undefeated ACC champ like FSU was getting knocked out in favor of a 1-loss SEC team.

Being in a great conference like the SEC gives you room for error and the benefit of the doubt. For example we were safely in the playoffs as a 10-2 team while Miami at 10-2 wasn't even the first team out. A 3-loss Alabama was ahead of them. If we played in a down conference like the ACC stuff like that would happen to us all the time unless we were perfect.

There seems to be a whole lot of people in here carrying water for Bama. Gross.

I think it's called being honest. But if you want to assign any other motivation to it, then you could say we're actually carrying water for Tennessee cause we're in the SEC too. And we didn't get a home playoff game in large part because the committee valued Ohio State's win over this fraudulent Indiana team because they were ranked in the top 10 while none of our wins were "top 10 wins". And yet anyone with half a mind knew Indiana wasn't better than half the teams we beat in the SEC.

Alabama may have gotten the bigger shaft by totally missing the playoffs because the committee overlooked strength of schedule with Indiana. But we also got screwed because Indiana was one of the wins that propelled Ohio State to stay above us in the rankings despite both teams being 10-2.
