Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Marines are still a different breed and are typically right up in/on some horrible stuff unlike the rest of our military (with exceptions) which has a philosophy of engaging enemy targets before they can even been seen or are close enough to respond.

I also think that the nature of urban warfare makes things difficult for our troops as those are typically block by block assaults with high casualties for enemy forces, higher than usual for U.S. or NATO forces and high civilian casualties.
He doesn't say too much about it. His platoon patrolled the hiway bewteen the airport and Abu Grab prison. Said they learned real fast what things to avoid on the hiway. Dead animals, recently "repaired" potholes.

I normally like a lot of what you post. This isn't one of those times. Kind of surprising.
Don't misunderstand. I am fully behind our vets and they deserve to be cared for. The point being, "It would be better that the vets not be put through these things than for them to have to be treated after the fact."

I'm not calling vets evil. I'm calling the rotten politicians and the people who buy them evil.

Same way that aspertame causes cancer. Insane amounts over a long period of time can increase the likelihood, but normal use is definitely not going to cause it.
Sounds better than alcohol, of which any amount increases cancer odds.

Making all the "healthy red wine" industry plant crap even more laughable and despicable.

Why do people like these? We're happy we treated kids more harshly? 🙄 I remember my stomach hurting in school bc I was hungry, man wish my kid's stomachs could hurt from hunger pains. That'll show em! Definitely help their attention and focus!
You sure like extreme binaries sometimes. Maybe learning to focus through some ever so slight, 1st world discomforts for a few minutes isn't a horrible thing? I don't know that anyone was advocating for making children starve and try to learn through malnutrition. Yet that's what your post implies.

Thank you for asking. She had a scan and we're waiting on results. If there are worse places in the world than ER waiting rooms, then I really pity those folks having to endure them.
My father is an ER physician and has enough seniority that he can work the hours he prefers, so he always does the 6AM shift. He's told me in recent months he's come in to find people who've been waiting 16 hours.

You can criticize the system that sent them there without calling them fodder. Really messed up.

Talk about a bad look.
Do you know what 'fodder' is?

The point being that they are human beings that deserve more than being used as a cheap, disposable material to feed the greed and ambition of rich ***holes.

Heup can’t recruit started from a salty UCF fan base. No one really knew, kind of hard to recruit when you’re the 5th best program in your state. And if we’re being real, if I’m a mid major prospect out of po-dunk Florida I’m choosing Boca Raton over Orlando. So 6th best for guys like me.
And yet he led his conference in recruiting every season once you added in transfers.

Guy brought iirc EIGHT bluechip transfers...in 1 class 😅🤣

Yeah but the UCF fans areally knew about recruiting 🤣🤣🤣

I don’t disagree. It’s a poor choice of words tho. Also not the time or place. Guy just lost his friend.
It's only a poor choice of words for someone who doesn't know what "cannon fodder" is (and thus didn't realize that I was defending the soldiers), and it'd only be bad timing if I was dumping on soldiers instead of arguing against the system that caused the loss.

Are we sleeping on Cam Seldon this year? Not been a lot of talk about him since he’s been injured. This guy is FAST for his size and with his weight he is not afraid of contact in the slightest. Runs hard and fights for yardage in this video against a really good defense. I think it will be interesting to see if we get another Small/Wright -type backfield again but with Seldon/Sampson this time.

I think he'll be great. Seems like the only wrinkles he needs to iron out are the ones that take real playing time to fix. He's probably to the point where he needs some real game film of himself to study and get better each week. I wish he had gotten more PT last year, because I think he has gamebreaker potential. Hopefully he's good enough where his big plays mask any weakness he still has for now.

I think we will be really good at RB this year. Cam just needs reps. That's why it sucked that he got hurt during the spring bc he needed those reps since he learning how to play RB. Glad he is now a full go. By the OU game Cam will be a force and great 1-2 punch with Samp.

I'm interested to see who RB3 will be.

Well maybe learn the couth not to use it in reference to a recently deceased soldier.

Not the time or place.

Why do contemporary American soldiers seem to have far higher rates of this stuff than the soldiers of old?

It seems like it would help to know the answer to that question...war is hell, but it has always been hell....so why?
Awareness I'd imagine.

Nobody talked about this stuff a century ago. People just suffered in darkness.

I was an ER doc years ago. I met a nurse with braces and started working as a lawyer for her dad before I had to move overseas unexpectedly. . .
