My father is an ER physician and has enough seniority that he can work the hours he prefers, so he always does the 6AM shift. He's told me in recent months he's come in to find people who've been waiting 16 hours.

I thought ER business had slowed down some since the first Covid epidemic and quit prescribing pain medication.

It varies. There are days he goes in where he tells me he feels like he got kicked from pillar to post, then other days it's very slow.

I would have to be in a really bad way to sit there for 16 hours. And if I was in a REALLY bad way, I WOULDN'T be sitting there for 16 hours.

Adversity builds character. No one really wants their kids to suffer, they just want their kids to fully appreciate how lucky they are to have what they do. Remember, there are starving kids in Africa who would love to have what you do.

And also telling a soldier (in this case a dead soldier’s friend) what he fought for is a big scam. Didn’t even say that was wrong, just that this wasn’t the place.

You sure like extreme binaries sometimes. Maybe learning to focus through some ever so slight, 1st world discomforts for a few minutes isn't a horrible thing? I don't know that anyone was advocating for making children starve and try to learn through malnutrition. Yet that's what your post implies.
