Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I'm about to say something incredibly negative that hurts my heart to say, but it's something I currently believe. Unless we add more talent and make some changes to strategy, we don't make the CFP next year. That could change if Sampson decided to return, and we picked up some talented WR, and we plugged a few holes on the roster. Still not confident in Elarbee fielding a solid OL unit next season.

Eric Singleton Jr , the top WR in the portal just committed to Auburn, along with all the other top talent they got out of the state... Didn't even make it to a bowl, and we just lost 3-4 WR's ...MONEY TALKS... AU continuing to throw serious money to get back to where they were...

So at one point, it was thought that Nico would pull top wide receivers to play with him. Do we believe that is no longer the case?

Not sure who told you that. Or why you would believe it?

Majority of these dudes aren’t choosing a school based on the QB. Mostly money with opportunity sprinkled in but also a guy like Key - his gf is on the softball team at UGA.

To be fair, it hasn’t worked so far.

Looks to me like folks on here are beginning to figure out we are fans of pro teams now.

Most are focused on the pieces and that is normal. The difference in becoming elite or staying where we currently find ourselves is in the coaching staffs and support systems. Everybody with money will be paying players. It's the evals and innovation of staffs with the support of the school execs that wins at a high level. They attract the talent with upside that will stay committed to the team and process.

Again - If you are a top offensive talent who are you going to play for - Chip Kelly, Mike Bobo, or Joey Halzle? Same for defense - Jim Knowles, Kirby's DC of the moment, or Tim Banks?

The team participation in the natty chase yearly and drafts tell you.

hate to say it but unless we do all of that and a little more, no way we are making any CFP for a while... Settle in for some nice bowl games to take the yeti family to around Christmas.

I’d wager our on field results will still be better than theirs

yall see that article with the OSU players talking about how the defensive staff and scout team knew everything about us?

Oof.
Our offense was so predictable and vanilla this year that HS teams could run it and easily scout it. Something negatively changed with the offense the past 2 years and it needs to be fixed

That was the chatter on here for quite a while, and makes sense. You want to make good money and put up big stats for the Pros? Play with a very good QB. Now, after this year, might not be the same.

Didnt work for A&M, hasn't for Ole Piss. Auburn still hasn't made it to a bowl game lol.
But helped OSU whip us. I keep hearing Ohio State has the highest paid roster at something like $20 mil this season. Not sure where the numbers are coming from, but it's been mentioned on the radio.

It’s been widely reported since the spring on multiple legitimate TV and radio stations.
I believe it. Two future NFL RBs, at least 3 future NFL WRs, multiple future NFLers on their defense. All that future NFL talent, they may be getting a bargain.

But it didn't help them win their conference or beat Michigan. Hoping they don't win the title.

Screw the Suckeyes.

Ohio St been a playoff contender for over a decade. Lost in the title game 4 years ago. We not on that level yet.

We should be comparing programs who haven't sniff the playoffs in years and how their spending has translated to wins or lack thereof.
