Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Hardly. Where are the employment contracts?

The one thing that makes it professional (and would actually help the sport rn) is lacking.

Exactly why things feel so nutty. There are no contracts, so it's the wild west. Pro leagues are too reasonable (we're talking basically every pro league in the entire world has figured this out) to allow such stupidity, all in blind hopes of returning the sport to the 90s...ain't happening Sankey...
Simple have every athlete sign an NIL contract that stays as long as your are at the school and complete "so and so" you will receive this much money. If you transfer before completing "so and so" you much give back a percentage of the agreed contract

Thank you. I know people don't rely on the radio as much as they used to, but I've really missed it. I tried early on and gave Kesling a chance but he'd got on my nerves as much as the team did (lol). I always looked forward to John Ward on Saturdays, just as much as I did the VOLS. Win or lose, I knew he was going to be entertaining.

To the RF......

"More Than a Voice' is my favorite ESPN film production/documentary. If you've not seen it, then you should definitely check it out. I cry every time I watch it.
Great post Possum. Of course I grew up in the olden days in Maryville and that’s how I experienced Tennessee football, through the voice of John Ward. We might get one or two games a year on TV. I played football from first grade through high school and we would often get tickets to see us kill a bad team to fill the stadium. John Ward could paint a picture that was often times better than if you watched it. He was the GOAT. When he was calling games you would see thousands of fans in the stadium with those old radio headsets listening to Ward while watching the game. Man do I miss him.

Sorta like heads you win, tails I lose 🤷‍♂️They will never get the ability to approve or deny the deals. Basically we are now reaping years of incompetence and corrupt leadership by the NCAA. We also have some Napoleon complex conference commissioners that just want to be in control and really could care less about what is best for the entire landscape of college athletics. Follow the $$$$$$$.
yeah. I wish "our" commissioner and his media lackeys had worked as hard to get us to host as they did to get Bama in the playoffs. wtf.

Just keep on keeping on!

Hit the treadmill for a 350 cal burn and trying to find the motivation to whip out the bench... For those that aren't aware...

In April I was at 236 lbs and slightly feeling down after recovering from bruised ribs in my old man soccer league. Decided to get my ass in gear. I'm down to 190 without any shots. Just being more aware of calorie intake and exercising with two goals in mind:
Improve the abysmal mile time of 11:45
Get under 200 lbs

When one plateaued, the other improved. I'm at:
8:20 for a mile
190lbs. New goal is 175 and then the scale won't be a focus.

That's been why I've been absent a lot this year.
Respect….great job!!

As an ETSU alum 2X's, glad I could help UT athletics🫤. Step up, morans. Saturday was embarrassing as hell.

Merry Christmas, Sir🫡
Thank you sir.

Using these funds we are aiming to add
Another top OL (not hard to guess who)
2 DL
1 RB (unless we can keep Sampson which we are certainly putting a nice package in front of)
1 WR (only a stud, will just go young if we can’t get a true game breaker)
1 S/Star depending on current roster movement

Not expecting TE, LB, Edge or CB. Like young talent there.

So basically we’re gonna be chasing Sampson up until around Feb before the combine.

December 24, 1976.........(slow day in UT history)

Joe Gallagher was the only Vol to play in the annual Blue-Gray All Star Game in 1976. He helped the Gray team win 31-10.

Gallagher was a four year starter for the Vols, at three different positions (defensive tackle, tackle, and guard). Joe was named UT’s Most Valuable Lineman in 1976. He became a legendary coach at Haverford High, PA.

Next year is a come to Jesus moment for Heupel’s regime. Coach Heupel HAS to have another offensive mind join the staff, come in and change some things. Preferably someone who is a Qb coach too.

Either he can choke to be a “ stubborn OC”married to his system no matter what, or he can become an elite head coach who always adjusting and ready to do what’s best to fulfill his job as head coach.
Halze isn’t going anywhere. He’s super tight with all of the QB recruits including Nico
